Unless it's supposed to go underneath something, I doubt it's for dirt. Way, way too much exposed soft cloth and velcro, one roll in the clay and it's done for until you wash it.
But if its for the track I might get one depending on how much it weighs and how free you are to move around in it. Def put my womans mind more at ease.
It's for under leathers. I use a similar one from Dainese under my 1-piece. It replaces all the built-in protectors, covers much more but doesn't restrict your movements and the protectors are more likely to stay in place in a crash
It's NOT for use by itself since it's made for impact and not abrasion protection - that's what the leather is for.

Hmmmmm. Very cool. Thanks for the info! Do you have to get a specific type of leather suit to accommodate for the extra armor? I know most suits already have the armor built in, so unsure if this would still fit with those type suits or if I needed to find a suit with minimal built in armor

Any suit with removable armor will do. In all the ones I've had, the armor was in velcro pockets. It may need to be a size bigger than you'd usually need since the chest protector adds some circumference.

Worth it's weight in gold. Getting banged up sucks, even 13 year old Teflon didn't like shaking off crashes. It was cool showing my scuffs off after a wreck, but there was always an unspoken "...and I hope it never happens again" at the end of every story.
On my old sig, I mentioned being afraid of electric fences. Had I been wearing something like that...

Last one in training (on the track), the one before that in a race. I bruised a fingertip last time, that was all
Well, no tracks in Hawaii anymore, but am anticipating a move to <drumroll>
Monterey, CA!
Will have to build up to Laguna Seca- but that's a chance of a lifetime I don't plan on missing. A bruised finger after an off? No wonder the pros are all so spry after their wrecks.
A good armor suit like that will be on me, one way or another.
I've got no room to laugh, I've ridden trails that'd make your hair fall off on obsolete dirtbikes, but watching people's gopro footage on Youtube gives me cold sweats.

I went around Laguna over 9000 times in GT5 too before I went IRL It does NOT prepare you for the actual elevation changes, it's a damn rollercoaster
Whoo! In game, I take the Shelby Cobra approach to the Carousel- Crossed up, quick, and crapping my pants.
It makes me nervous in the game, I can't imagine actually dropping off the side of that at speed... whoooo, willies.
IRL there is a tree standing by itself at the bottom of the Corkscrew, you can easily see the top of it before turn-in. If you just aim at that you'll stay on track even though you can't see most of the turn until you're in free fall
