Re: Tattoo critique

I agree that my opinion should not matter to her. But, it obviously did. Else she would not have been pissed.

And its sad, to me, that being unoriginal is so acceptable these days. Perhaps that's my problem.

Ive always been one to be me, to do things my way, to try to make my own mark. I don't like copying something and trying to own it. I may take inspiration from someone's idea and make it my own, but I abhor a carbon copy

Newsflash bud: everything you have done to try to be "original", someone has already done, probably a hundred times over. "There is nothing new under the sun" or some bs like that. Now with tattoos yeah i guess you can strive for originality and create something ONLY you have but you wouldn't know if some other dude had the same thing anyway.
She obviously liked it enough to be permanently branded with it and it doesn't look like shit so just congratulate her and move on.

Only if you surround it with barbed wire and write it in kanji

Well maybe its just a starting point for the rest of what she will get in the future. There are limitless options on what she can do now. She has a base for adding all sorts of art to it if that is what she wants. I cant say much i have a horseshoe (yes it is open side up) and it seems to have worked for me so far. But it is just the start of what me personally will be happy with. Like joe said without saying better than barbwire...lol

Re: Tattoo critique

Again, I said I could get over the phrase. Its the carbon copy of the tattoo posted above that bothers me. The only thing different was the font.

She could have had it down her leg. Something.

And the tattoo is sloppy. I guess it doesn't show well in the pic.

Well you now have a platform to make new art...use what she has already and draw out something that makes it completely different from the norm. From what you say about your tats you can come up with original ideas. You know her better than any of us would. Take things you know about her and make it into the art you AND her will appreciate. Consider it something that will make you two closer and more bonded Don't let it become something that is going to drive you batshit crazy when you see it lol

It wont drive me crazy. And I wouldn't criticize it again.

Sure, we are free to go ahead and do what we want. But how is it a bad idea to ask your significant other whether they think it's cool, or whether it's going to cause a problem?
