I just got back a feet on the street report on the GSX-R750R Limited I won last week on Ebay.

The report is the bike is very clean as befitting a bike with less than 2000 miles on it. The seller is the original owner and the bike still has the transparent 600 mile break in sticker on its speedo.

It is stock other than having flat slides, pod filters and an ignition advancer on it and the owner is sending the original parts along with the bike.

The question is should I put this back to stone stock and garage queen it, or should I update and upgrade it a bit with the Yosh replica carb heatshield, rebuilt Ohlins and NOS Kerker pipe I have sitting on my shelf and put it into my regular ride rotation or should I update and upgrade it and garage queen it?

For context, I already have a nice slightly custom '86 GSX-R750 in my ride rotation

What do you folks think?

I would leave your best example stock. But regardless, I'd rack, maybe 40 miles a month on it. Two twenty mile weekends, just to keep it tip top. Sitting around will not help the bike. Hopefully he cranked it up a bit.

How much was it?

I'm probably not the best guy to chime in and I don't have a vintage bike, YET, but I would have fun with it. Whatever that means to you. You never know what tomorrow brings, I would enjoy it. If you mod it, you still have the old parts to put it back.

How much was it?

With basically a 6 month riding season 40 miles a month equates to 240 miles a year, which equals garage queen. It was $9500.

If I mod it and ride it, I'd sell my other GSX-R750 as there isn't much point in having two of the basically the same bike. Regular riding to me means somewhere around 3000 miles a year. I have plenty of room to keep both GSX-Rs but I only have enough time to regularly ride about 6 bikes. Adding the Limited without getting rid of anything makes 7.

mod it to your liking, ride it, enjoy it. Keep the stock parts for re sale value. I love riding my limited GSXR's, it always puts a huge grin on my face.

I have 6 bikes also... If there not costing you anything Id keep'm. I had that bike back in the early 90's wish i would have never sold it.... Id keep it basically stock, add a pipe and stage 2 jet kit

I second GSX-R1100's comments. It has flatsides, pods, and ignition advancer so it must already have stage 3 jet kit. I'd search for a nice Yoshimura race or street header and ride it occasionally.

I voted bone stock but I'm thinking of the long term increase in value that would come with keeping it stock and not stacking on miles, if i could choose two i would then say the second option of "Period modified garage queen" but that to is looking at it as an investment.

It only takes one idiot in a car to ruin it.....

I'm leaning towards bone stock, and then going to town with modifications on my regular bike.

I've never owned anything close to a garage queen and anything that has gotten close to being a garage queen I've sold. My '95 Ducati 916 has just under 58K on it, and I know if I make the Limited a regular ride at some point it will accumulate this kind of mileage too. The 916 still accumulates about 3K miles a year.

Maybe the thing I need input on from the folks who favor putting the Limited back to stock condition is if you had a nice clean regular bike how would you modify it? 7/11? USD and 17 inch wheels? Skoal rep?

If i was going to do a replica bike i would go with the Team Hammer but that would be starting with an 1100, for a 750 i think i would try to make the Schwantz Yosh super bike but the brace kit is next to imposable to find and that is also being in the dream world of having unlimited funds......
