r1/r6 shock fits a slabby????

That looks great Tony, did you have the same issues? How's the bike feel now? Is it stiff enough? some say it needs a stiffer spring? thanks

YES! this is normal- exactly how mine used to fit-

Now I put in a 1100 swing arm, and the 1100 lower pivot arm and the R1 shock is WAYYYYYYYYYYY too long, wont fit in a million yrs-

Don't know what I'm gunna do because I really like the shock?????

Ok it's been well over a year since anyone has commented on this thread. I did a search and it seems most people are doing this swap to a 750. I have an 86 1100. Ghostrider posted that the R1 shock is 300mm long vs the original 86 1100 is 315mm. I am looking to increase ride height not lose any. I also saw that the cbr600rr shock may work, but what is the length of that? The R1's molded reservoir is the least intrusive to the battery box I can see. All the GSXR1000 have a different mount at the bottom of the shock so no shaving it down to fit.

Any other ideas? I need to know lenghts as well with the other ideas.

Here you go Dave , this might help.... according to the chart and your measurements, there are quite a few Suzuki options as well as Honda options. I personally would go with a Honda 1000rr unit as the spring rate is over 12kg/mm and has more positive adjust-ability. The adjustment collar is also more user friendly. If you want to go about an inch higher , go with a GSXR 750 shock as it has a longer stroke.

Yeah but I am looking for an easy swap. I looked at all the gsxr shocks and it seems the only one that doesn't have a fork like attachment is the 2009 1k. I will look at that chart and search eBay for pics so I can figure out mounting options. Thanks

By the way I noticed that the Ohlins catalog lists a lot of shock lengths if any needs it.
