What's up everybody. I bought an 08 1000 this summer and it just didn't "do it" for me. So I bought a 28 psi turbo kit. The bike is going to be a daily rider but will be built for top speed. I just have a few questions. Well a ton of them, but i'll start with this one. Do I need to do anything to upgrade my cooling system?
Holeshot racing out of N. Ireland built the kit. The bulk of it is a GTX30-76 turbo, CP pistons, Carrillo conrods, lock up clutch, heavy duty studs, Motec stand alone engine management.

Thats a big turbo, more then likely you will have to cut the radiator which will make it run on the hot side. Good luck with the bike&welcome to the forum
If you like to ride alot, buy a beater bike. Turbo bikes are fine if you leave the boost low and dont mess with them, which never happens. Welcome to the forum, and post some pics
There are a few members here with a vast knowledge of turbocharging,maj750 is one. You asked a cooling question and it was somewhat answered. it would be much easier if you posted some pics of your setup. And out of curiousity why did the shop who put the kit together not inform you of any issues you may encounter?
This forum as a whole is not typically known for anything other than roadracing. There are small sub-forums such as this but for in depth answers to turbo's you should check out suzukihayabusa.org. turbo 1000's are nowhere near as popular as Busa's so that is a set back right there
Your shopping list seems pretty good, valve springs, oil mods, too ?
just having management like Motec says your pretty serious, lots of guys get the turbo kit part good but don't put the same thought into tuning
turbo kit is big but your obviously after big power, planning drags or mile racing ?
get someone with good experiance to build your motor, 1000's are not as strong as busas
and need everything going for them to survive
The bike is being built for mile racing as well as being a street machine. Yeah this thing is getting the goods throughout or it definitely won't last. I've been shopping around locally for someone who builds the motors for the guys at the drags. I've found a couple guys but am still looking around. The engine guys i've talked to have said about doing the valve springs and not too much more. I talked to the builder of the kit and he eliminates the oil cooler altogether.

Re: 08 1000 turbo
I would say no cooling problem..use water wetter ect and make sure the air is out of the system and take out the thermostat..along with the springs the ti valves are also weak and snap off..a built turbo motor usually consist of H beam rods and turbo pistons and make sure its tuned well..you can also flash the ecu to turn the fan on sooner..
My lil gt28 and cut radiator with the fan coming on sooner and water runs all day long and doesnt overheat..bone stock motor and I drag race it..
