Changing out 750 clutch

Ok ladies and gentlemen,
I need to help. Its winter time so Im looking to do some maintenance and one being fixing my damn clutch lever. I have had the bike for 2 years now and my clutch lever has always been very stiff. Its ok at first but after a couple hours of riding constantly having to hit the clutch lever makes my hand go num (almost crashed one time because of it). So at first I thought it was the clutch cable, i adjusted it to the best I knew how (Im not really a mechanic but I can hold my own and its always nice to learn to do it yourself). Adjusting neither the top or bottom of the clutch cable seemed to work, so I lubed it up and nothing still hard... assuming I did it right which I doubt (any suggestions on proper procedure). So now I have decided to change my clutch and clutch cable, planning on doing a track day next year so I want the bike in good condition. Sometimes second gear doesnt catch also.

My question is
1. what clutch should I get and from where?
2. is any clutch cable ok? saw one on motorcycle superstore
3. is it difficult to change clutch

Buy the OEM cable and clutch parts. Don't bother with the aftermarket stuff. Majority of street and track riders all use OEM.

I concur. The stock clutch parts are not lacking and are usually used even in modified motors.

Start with a nice fresh cable, route it properly, and see where you're at after that. It can make a huge difference.
