now thats a good idea, I probably wouldnt have thought to pull and clean each time. wouuld it be possible to just turn the tool enough to repair the damaged threads at top of hole? without having to go to bottom with it? That method would cut down the amount of metal fleks f can do it that way. the damage is at the very top. i got nowhere near threading it in. i really dont wanna hafta drop engine and all that if i can help it. but anyways thanks for the tip. I'm gonna try it your way when tool get here.

sure as hell beats pulling the engine, that rethreader isnt gonna produce that many fragments. one turn should clean it up. Why risk fucking something elsde up when you start tearing apart the engine and shit. I'll take my chances with the rethreader, leaving everything else soundly intact.
