Ok, so as most of you probably already know, there is a ALL NEW GoPro HERO 3 coming out soon.
Faster, Smaller, Lighter, Better Quality, Built In Wi-Fi..etc..etc.
This Post is a General Discussion on what your opinion on the Two Models coming out of HERO 3.
They have the SILVER SERIES, which is is basically an updated HD Hero 2 camera with WiFi built in, the thinner size and and improved housing. 1080p/30fps, 960p/48fps, 720p/60fps
11MP photos
Up to 10 shots per second in photo burst mode
And then for $100 MORE.. They have a BLACK SERIES, Which includes the WiFi Remote ($80 value) and a better Camera 4K/15, 2.7K/30, 1440p/48fps, 1080p/60fps, 960p/100fps, 720p/120fps
12MP photos
New photo burst modes with up to 30 shots per second
There are hundreds of way to use and mount a GoPro. But, the most common, is Mount on your Bike, or Mount on your Helmet.
In these situations, it's a TOTAL PITA to have to (POWER ON, Make sure it's on, START. Recording, STOP Recording, POWER OFF, Switch to Camera Mode, Take some Rapid Shots, Switch Back to Video, Change Video Settings...etc..etc..)
That's where the WiFi Remote comes in. You strap it to your wrist like a Watch, and it has a MATCHING LCD Screen to exactly what your Camera is doing. Plus, a Big ON / OFF and Record Button.
So what's your opinion on what GoPro is doing ?
Is it worth spending $100 MORE for the Better Camera and the WiFi Remote ?
or would you just use your iPhone, or Droid device as a remote instead . and save the $100.?
Once again, just a General Discussion on these models. This isn't to debate GoPro vs. something else, or what they sell for.... etc. JUST Discussion on GoPro's Decision to have these two models.

i would lean more towards the silver. i think it depends on what you are doing if you need that wifi stuff. i think gopro has the right idea with their marketing. they are changing things up instead of going with their traditional line up. i love my big suction plunger mount for my hero2. comes in handy!
I would absolutly get the better camera for $100 more. your talking 4k resolution capabilties... thats 4x higher resolution than 1080. Its a no brainer for me.
I think it's retarded that the silver model is not the same camera as the black. It's wifi capable, new shape, but still has hero 2 internals. WTF?
$100 more you get a better camera and wifi remote. I'd go with black I guess, just because I don't want to buy a new looking camera that is the exact same as the last one.
What does your phone do with the camera, with either one??
I have an app on my phone with the app and bluetooth I can site in the camera ( see where it's aimed ). Also adjust sound and video settings . Unfortunately you cant watch what's being filmed .

Nice, I didn't know you could do that. That has to be nice to help get it aimed right. I don't think my Motorola bag phone has that option.
how much better, in terms of vid/pic quality, is the gopro3?? cos from what i've been reading in other articles so far is that its not really a better quality lens, but it just supports for vid configurations like 4K vid at 15fps, 1080p at 60fps, and 720p at 120fps. if that is the case then no way will i buy the gopro3. i don't need even need half speed let alone quarter speed slowmo. i see no value in slowmo vids lol. and the higher resolution options are shooting at too low of a frame rate to be usable. which means to me, the gopro3 is basically the gopro2 with a wifi bacpac and a lower battery life lol
You guys are going to laugh, but I still use my gopro hero(wide angle) standard def camera.
As much as I want a HD one, I just cant afford one or justify spending the money on one right now. Im waiting on the prices to come down. Second, they are becoming like apple products now. Updating a newer version every week. Thats why I didnt jump on their first HD camera, I knew something better would come later.
But for now the standard definition camera does the job. Doing stupid shit and showing my friends.
Wish we got more than this, but 50 Units will do for now.
Just wanted to say thank you for all those who have been waiting patiently.
Your orders will be shipping ASAP.
And of course you will be getting a tracking number emailed to you once it's on the way.
Merry Christmas to all. !!!!!!!!!

If you dont have editing software capable of working with the 4K or even 1080p footage your video is going to get compressed and look the same as GoPro960 footage.
Ever wonder why GoPro's youtube videos look so much better than yours? $3000 worth of software.
This is just a little info on what it takes to edit 4K.
If you stick with Adobe you will need at least CS 5.5 For NLE if you stick with Apple you will need FCP-X (can't do 4K on FCP7) so you cannot re-conform from your FCP7 or earlier project. or if you jump Apples ship you can export a XML or EDL and conform in Avid MC 5.5 or Premiere 5.5.
For hardware on a MacPro you will need at least OS 10.6.v3, 4GB RAM (more if you have multiple software programs running concurrently), at least a westmere chip-set. NVIDIA Quadro 6000 graphics card (for Adobe mercury engine to work with multiple 4K layers), for your NLE you may need a separate graphics card since Apple does not take advantage of NVIDIA GPU power, OpenCL-capable graphics card or Intel HD Graphics 3000 or later for FCP graphics card spec.
for a RAW12 (12 bit uncompressed) at 3996X1260(1:85) @ 30FPS you are looking at about 388 MB/s roughly 1.4TB an hour.
