last week i picked up a 2001 Gsx-r 1000 for $500 bucks .I GOT IT FROM A TOW YARD AND ALL IT NEEDS IS SOME NEW RIMS AND A FRONT BRAKE LEVER. it also needs the rear tail fairing and a speedo . It came with a full Hindle exhaust . i used to drag my 92 oiler but cant wait till next season to drag this one so does anyone have any advice on what stretch and other mods would be good for the bike ?
I just want to keep it simple cause after getting the bike back together im on a limited budget. I just got both rims and ordered some shinkos. the track we race at i found out is only 500ft. I am putting a K & N on it some good plugs and wires,. just was wondering if a small stretch is good or should i go to a 10" stretch. as for gearing im thinking 15 up front and 44-45 on rear. I weigh 215 suited. any feed back is welcome. what plugs, should i get extensions or a swing arm? what oil should i run in it? clutch mods? im sure thees have been answered in here somewhere but im having trouble with searching this site. THANKS.

Id stay around 6" over,if you go too long you will have to address the chassis/suspension in order for it to hook. I wouldnt go lower then a 16t in the front as the chain is likely to skip over the sprocket under hard launches. Clutch is bullet-proof just put some heavy duty springs in it. Stock plugs are perfect,no need to switch to anything fancy. I run Rotella T6 in my bikes(as almost eveyone on this forum does as well),its about $20 for a gallon at WalMart.

well im back after a small break from my project .I am just about done all i need now is a speedo and stock upper fairing and headlight ,ram air tubes.what i am wondering is if i cant get these parts will it afect how my bike runs ,[ ie] the ram air will this effect the bike.

A 600 arm is a popular mod since (like you mentioned) it has no bracing&allows you to lower the bike in the rear much more then on a bike that has a top-braced arm
yeah im sure when i ran the vin # it came back as 2001 Gsxr 1000 ,cant see someone putting a 600 in a k1. but does anyone know where to find the cc's on the motor i cant seem ta find it.
