gearing/speedo

At 5k rpm my speedo reads 59 mph. Is that what he should read stock? It seems like everyone is passing me on the hwy and interstate.

Re: gearing/speedo

Stock almost all sportbikes are 7-10% optimistic on the speedo

If you have made any gearing changes (common is -1+2) it is likely closer to %15 off

Re: gearing/speedo

I have a 600, and have been around these bikes forever. They are all off from the factory, by varying amounts.

Re: gearing/speedo

So i compared it to the calculation chart and im only off by 1 mph. You say its likely off by more. So if i dis get a speedo corrector what would i go by to set it right? I guess im just gonna have to use my gps.

Re: gearing/speedo

that is I think the way most do. Use a GPS to calibrate it.

Most are 7-10%. So at 60 youd be looking at it reading 64-66mph usually.

But since they read high, I usually just rode as if it was right. EAsier to not get in trouble that way
