and i blow by S1000s on corner exits every track day with my 600. that doesn't mean that an S1000 is a bad machine.

Just saying if i had the money i would've bought the above mentioned bikes instead of the limited edition yoshi. But i dont have the money and i like my current bike just fine.

I never wrote in any of my posts that the s1000 was a bad machine. I like the BMW but I wouldn't pay that kind of price for one.

Road Course racing?
Drag strip?

Or are you talking about beating your friends in a highway roll-on competition.

If you "blow right by them like they are standing still" on the race track, they suck as riders. If you are talking about some street race.

Re: 2013 Yoshimura limited 1K

Suzuki sold 1 mil gsxr units, i dont think suzuki/yoshimura are going to stress trying to sell these few bikes, they sold some earlier special yoshi 600cc editions but even if a few on here find it a waste of money there are going to be some OG suzuki/yosh guys, ballers & other die hard squids out there who want them.

I was talking about drag racing/street racing. With Road Racing, the Ducati And BMW would be more superior d/t their fabulous suspension.

With drag racing, it boils down to brute hp of your bike and skill. You Road Racing guys are on a different level and are in a league of your own.

Someday I will have the priviledge to get involved in that. I need to find me a nice 600 and use it for that purose only. This is on my to do list for the future.

And another thing, you don't need to be condenscending towards me by saying that just because I beat someone on another bike that the other person is a sucky rider. I guess according to you thats the only way I can win races. Give me some f***ing credit, sheesh. Do you know me or know what kind of rider I am? No! I will always consider myself as a rider that is constantly learning so I can become better. Maybe someday I will be as good as you.

Complete marketing scheme. The bike is no faster, no better and no more useful than a "regular" Gixxer. But they give it a special name and call it "limited" in hopes that people won't do the math and realize they are charging you $4,000 for $400 worth of shit.

Sad part is...it will work. There will be lots of parking lot pimps who will buy the bike just so they can say they have a "Limited Yosh Edition". Then i would bet a paycheck the next paragraph will be full of lies, probably about how Yosh put a special motor in it etc.

Yes it is really kind of pathetic.......it's time for a 'new' K5

I see that Yoshimura is selling the 2012 kit at a slight discount here. This gives a better idea of what they think the different parts are worth.

Re: 2013 Yoshimura limited 1K

EPA Noise Compliant R-77 Stainless/Carbon Fiber Slip-On Exhaust System $423.26
Fender Eliminator Kit$74.66
Chassis Protectors$93.46
Steering Stem Nut$26.31
Axle Adjuster Blocks$62.21
Bar Ends$37.31
Race Stand Stopper$25.16
Suzuki Solo Cowl (Custom Painted)$63.57
Case Savers$161.81
Engine Plug Kit$35.65
Oil Filler Plug$24.86

Total= $1027.86

all part prices were taken from the STG site, with the exception of the cowl, which was an OEM price that i took from Suzukipartsnation. The race stand stopper price is the price for driven spools, as STG didn't have any listed for yoshi. this means that yoshimura wants to charge an additional $3472.04 for bodywork with a special sticker scheme (sale price of 4500 considered, not 5000). their claim of a custom paint job is ludicrous because it is not custom. custom denotes a one-off production, to the demand of a customer. so is anyone still interested in paying 5k more for a 2013 with $1027 in extra parts? if you bought the LE, you still would be out the value for the OEM stuff, which you could at least sell if you bought the stupid kit after the fact to offset a cost. i am completely disappointed in yoshimura right now.

P.S. If you called Jason at ext 210, he will still give you a sweeter price than those listed.

edit- and you STILL won't have any sort of a better performing machine at fucking all. yosh should give their head a fucking shake.

Re: 2013 Yoshimura limited 1K

Just reminds me of craigslist really. Somebody buys a bike brand new, finaces it and buys a bunch of shiny bits, then tries to sell it next cycle saying bs like "parts alone are worth $x amount, this is a deal, no other bike on the road like it." If they did some internals then I'd be interested. But like MacBayne showed, you're better off buying the parts from a third-party.

They could easily put out a bike that put 190hp to the wheel, stock, on pump gas. But they wont.

BMW and Kawi have been the first and only "mass produced" bikes to deviate from that mentality/MO and say "to hell with everyone, we are creating a beast".
Totally agree they gotta try and sell bikes.

I wasnt being condescending, i was stating a fact.

The new S1000RR, ZX-10 and Panigale are better bikes than your 2004 Gix 1k. Not hating on your bike at all. Im just saying that bikes have progressed a lot in the 8-9 years since your bike came out.

Sure, you can throw all the money into your motor (not targeting you, im talking about anybody with a 8-10 year old bike) but that will not do anything to help the braking system, suspension, rotational mass in the wheels and motor, differences/improvements in frame technology, geometry and weight distribution, etc.

Power isn't always the answer, especially when it comes to road course racing. The rider is ALWAYS the biggest variable. So yes, if you "blow by them like they are standing still" on a road course (even though they are on better machines), then they are sucky riders.
