Hey guys new to the gixxer world and having some problems. Just bought the bike and when I picked it up it hadn't been started in almost 12 months and the battery
Was dead so jump started it rode it the short distance home and all was good.
Couple of days later went to jump start it again to take it for a ride to get some life into the battery and got a huge spark. After that I took the battery out and got a mate to charge it over night. I've now got it back and now I get no life at all out of the bike. thinking I killed the battery with the spark I bought a new battery and still nothing.
What's your ideas?
I've checked the fuses up the front on the left air intake and they are all ok, is their fuses anywhere else? I'm thinking but hoping not I might have killed the I think it's called the cdi module? the thing near the battery?

Re: 98 gsxr 750 srad no life at all... please help
My bet is on a fuse too, if the new battery was charged...
Download you service manual here: http://www.servicemanualsgsxr.com/su...ervice-manual/
In the later pages of that manual, you get the schematic of the bike, where it shows all the fuses! Most likely it was a fuse!
BTW, don't trust in your eyes to check a fuse, check it with a multimeter..
Re: 98 gsxr 750 srad no life at all... please help
That answers a few question... I knew there had to be fuses somewhere. Was surprised when I removed the rear seat cowl and didn't see fuses, turns out I'll have to remove the rear fender to find some fuses... Hopefully that's all it is
Re: 98 gsxr 750 srad no life at all... please help
The rear fenders are easy. There is nothing to see under the rear cowl. The battery and ecu lives under the seat. All other electrics is under the l/h rear fairing/fender. electrical problems on the srad can quickly diagnosed if you know where the problems can be. Check the master fuse and regulator wires at the rear they have a tendency to go crispy.

Turned out to be the fuse on the power cable. I'm assuming that's what you guys were referring to as the main fuse? took 5 seconds to find and fix. although not sure if the stator is working but I'm just ganna ride for a bit and then test the battery, or is there an easy way to test the stator?
Re: 98 gsxr 750 srad no life at all... please help
by stator i guess you mean make sure the generator is puting out A/C power to the voltage regulator/rectifier? Easiest thing you can do is just put a voltage meter on the posative and negative terminal of the battery while its running at around 5000 rpm and make sure the voltage is above 14v D/C. Or you can disconnect the generator wires from the voltage regulator (three black wires) and make sure you are getting above 70v A/C (not D/C..) when reved at 5000 rpm. The generator is located on left side of bike forward of shifter so it would be black wires coming out of there..

Awesome thanks for the help, will check it out tomorrow.
Next question and not sure if this is normal or not (thinking it is) went for a ride today and noticed the bike got really hot on the insides of my legs the water temp gauge was sitting on 38 degrees which didn't seem to bad?

thats not normal even if its celsius temp that would be 100 degrees fahrenheit. when riding in say 70 degree weather fahrenheit on my bike it stays at about 170 degrees F coolent temp. So id say either ur LCD display is missing the first number and its realy 238 degrees F which is hot, or your temp sensor isnt picking up the temp properly. Open your radiator cap when its cold on the front right of bike and make sure its full and check the reservoir to make sure its full. Also when you first turn ignition on look at LCD where temp is displayed and make sure it shows all 3 zeros when you first turn key. Also look to see if it says F or C..

Is that both inside legs or just one. The regulator lives under the lh fairing and the plug connector has a habit of going crispy. You can do a stator check from there.

Yeah on both sides, don't think the motor is to healthy it's got a bit of a knock. So I did an oil change and it came out with a lot of little metal flecks so doesn't bid well for the motor

If it is overheating make sure your fan is coming on behind the radiator on the right side. Could be water pump too, or radiator just too dirty to let air through..
