American Motorcyclist Association

The AMA protects your right to ride. We fight bike bans, land closures, health-care discrimination against motorcyclists, and more. Plus, the AMA is committed to providing the best benefits possible for its members to save them time and money. We are also dedicated to amateur racing, providing amateur competitors and their families, friends and fans with exciting andenjoyable racing events that create lifelong memories. We also publish American Motorcyclist magazine, which focuses on the accomplishments of our members in all forms of riding, whether it's racing, cross-country touring or trail riding. The AMA is dedicated to all these things, and more. After all, we love to ride.

Re: American Motorcyclist Association

Sorry but Screw them for selling out AMA racing to the Daytona group. If they really supported riders they would support racing. Now Superbike racing in America is a Joke, thank god for World Superbike and MotoGP.

Re: American Motorcyclist Association

^U two don't have a fuckin' clue (SoCal, and 1216)....

They have no business running a race program. They are, and should be, nothing more than a sanctioning body. Their purpose, and sole purpose, is in the post above by Admin.

They lost my membership nearly 10 years ago with the downward spiral of AMA ProRacing as an unit unto itself. After the sale, which I've been wishing for over that period, they now have my membership once again.

Re: American Motorcyclist Association

I agree, I was a member since 1982 and once they focused more on racing than they did on their members I dropped my membership. Now I am back with them, because they seem like they are going back to being there for their members and not for the racing industry.

Re: American Motorcyclist Association

Main reason why I joined was for their efforts in DC, not the racing.

Re: American Motorcyclist Association

I can't even ride across AMERICA with out getting stopped for different laws for each State. So, where has AMA DONE for the American Motorcyclist! You guys are running out of money. That is why so many have left! Now trying to make laws for us and bending over for the Man.

Re: American Motorcyclist Association

Probably not what you want to hear from the newbie, but: if you are not happy with the AMA (or any other representative group) the way to change it is get involved and express your ideas - or better yet, stop whining, get off of your ass and DO something about it. If the rank and file does not participate, the "clubby bureaucrats" will take over any organization and you pretty much suffer the consequences. I have had my own (rules related) issues with the AMA and CMA in the past, but one thing I have learned is that it is up to each one of us to change it.

On another note: for those who give a damn, the AMA Hall of Fame in Pickering OH has a fantastic collection and beautifully presented.

Re: American Motorcyclist Association

AMA is a good organization but with most things these days it is a little too political. Lots of good info in their magazines though

Re: American Motorcyclist Association

Haven't followed any races since Matt, Ben , E -Boz departed , having a rider dominate the Super Bike .. series today is a pure joke, especially when he hardly finished in the top 10 in the past , with more talented riders in the field .
