Was a '85 Honda Interceptor 500. Bought it brand new with money I had saved from cutting lawns for 3yrs lol. I was 15 at the time&waited 6months until I got my permit at 16..I rode it around the yard&the neighborhood and made the neighbors nuts until I finally got that permit. Found these pics while cleaning out the attic a few days ago along with pics of the brand new '87 750 I bought 2 yrs later. Check out that super wide 110/90-18 rear tire
My cousin had a 500 interceptor for a few years, one crash and he stopped riding..LoL.

We all crashed our first bikes back then because there was a lot more gravel on the roads then there is today
I crashed my first bike ('82 Seca 650) multiple times but apparently got it all out of my system because I never put so much as a scratch on my second bike ('86 Ninja 1000R).
Gravel. In all honesty I ran out of talent going in way too hot into a decreasing radius left hander, grabbed a handful of front brake which caused the bike to stand up and go straight off the road and down an embankment and into the gravel.
I swear I cried like a bitch as my mom was picking out the gravel with tweezers when I got home..which didnt work too well and once I got to the ER they scrubbed me real good with a wire brush to get the rest of the gravel out. Fuckin gravel. Hate it.

Seeing you throw up all these old pics made me start looking for pics of my first bike (a 1998 rm250) now I know it wasn't a street bike but I did introduce me to motorcycling.
While looking I did run across pictures of my first wreck riding wheelies down the asphalt and run up on a buddy of mine too fast. I set it down and swerved to miss him and was quickly running out of room to stop. I tried to be smart and head for the ditch in hopes of hitting grass...nope hit a culvert in the ditch which threw me back into the road
Here is a couple pics from the ER visit, I did have on my helmet and riding boots but that was all.
And the worse part of the ordeal was the dr's scrubbing out the asphalt and gravel from my arm and sides

In that pic of the '87, is that a Bubba Shobert Bell?

NJ,no it was a '86 vintage Bell Prostar with a Kerker sticker on the back. I had that helmet up until we moved into our new house in '02 and it never made it from the storage facility. Im positive one of the movers grabbed it as I was missing a bunch of other stuff as well,I had it on my bookshelf in the family room on display as Freddy Spencer had signed it.
And I see we both were squids in the '80s as thats the same exact riding gear I wore
it was i had to wet pack gause into my elbow for a week (to help draw out any infection) before the dr's would stitch it up. but from that i learned all gear all the time

That Bell you posted is the Bubba Shobert Bell! I had the same lid back in the day but the one I had was a limited edition with Bubba's signature on the back or maybe it was on each side. Sold it to a friend who still has it sitting in his garage.
You done started something youngster (Rob), LOL. I can't find any pics of my
first 3 bikes at the moment. BUT, I did find this pic recently of my 1st "sporty" bike. It is a 1993 VFR. Here she is in stock form. I changed the exhaust to a 2 Bros slip on and a Second Look tank skin(all white) and seat cover which was white and grey. That single sided swing arm was sexy!!!
The V-4 engine did sound awesome with the 2 Bros exhaust.

Here is my 94 Viffer right after I bought it. I also had a 2 Bros CF slip-on that made music to my ears.
And my 96 VFR at the WERA Pocono Cycle Jam back in the day.
My first bike was much cooler than yours OG. '66 Honda Super 90, the original pussy magnet bike! Especially after I put a knobby tire on the back & a giant rear sprocket so I could turn it into a dual sport. Mud was a bitch as it would make your tires lock up!
Nope, early Honda 4 stroke. Different sizes of that motor was what got Honda going in the bike biz here. A 50, 70, & 90. You could not kill that thing no matter what you did to it.
