missed that no one has answered my thread but how I'd back pressure affected? Is it affected from your afr I was looking into making a custom pipe which I now am not because I am planning on getting yosh Japan from griffind. Anyways how important is how long the pipe is have to do with back pressure for instance if you made a shorty pipe come up onto the passenger peg do you just change the afr readings or is there more to it.
there is no such thing as actual back pressure.
what there are is resonant waves. Those resonant waves are tuned by the length and diameter of the canister. As the pressure waves from the exhaust hit the canister, they expand, when they expand they slow down (which is what some people call back pressure, as they start to stack up in the canister) and part of them is reflected back by the inside and the end cap of the canister. Those resonant waves effect exhaust pulses and how power is made.
Air fuel ratio has nothing to do with that, although it can effect your air fuel ratio... does that make sense? AFR doesnt affect it, it affects AFR.
so although if you were to take a shorty canister (or chop one making it into a shorter length than it was originally designed) it can be made to work after properly tuning air fuel ratio, that doesnt mean it will make power anymore. In fact it can lose power. The canister length is critical to how it is tuned an how it makes power. Altering that changes it outside of its parameters and very well can make it worthless other than being louder.
This is the same as why we often say how shit pipes are shitty. They are nothing more than a glass pack, but have no R&D or tuning behind them, and as such often make WORSE power than stock. They just make noise, nothing more.
it's in the 07 600 section I see your point makes more sense now.
I was gonna take a new Leo Vince Italia can and make a custom midpipe then try to tune it with my pcv and auto tune but wasn't sure if there were steps I was missing since that pipe wasn't engineered for my bike.
Like I said though I am trying to buy that dual tip yosh from griffind now. Which should go perfect with my factory header that was cleaned up. i had some of the burrs and the set valve inside removed.
So I am guessing when I get this pipe if he sells it to me I should start with a yosh full system map then do my fine tuning from there
yeah, that would likely be best, alhough a yosh japan pipe will tune out VERY different.
The LEO and Mid pipe may very well work since the can is at last as designed, but it may not. WEll it will work, but it may not make good power. It probably wont make bad power, but with it not all tuned together it is a crap shoot honestly.
To clarify that first post a bit, there is no "back pressure" in exhaust never changes direction. It is just slowed down by varying degrees by the sound waves resonating backwards somewhat in the cannister, and slowing down in the cannister.

Yea so I have read now that I am researching it. Should make a little more power though than a typical yosh USA yea? Not really interested in the power perks honestly like it for its uniqueness now that I know what it is plus the sound of it however whatever power gains I do get from it I will definitely not complain about
In other news this is what I spent my day doing. Installed some vortex rear sets for my best friend. Had to modify the sprocket cover since the old shift rod went through the frame. Took a while and the instructions sucked. I would feel really bad for someone that didn't have mechanical experience. Definitely wasn't just a bolt on part. Or maybe it was just his bike I don't know. They turned out great though and the shifting is gp now he is happy

It may or may not make MORE power. It will make very DIFFERENT power.
