Cleaning Tips

Not sure if this is the right section to post this in, but I have an 01 GSXR 600 that is in need of a desperate cleaning in the engine compartment. What are some good products that are not harmful to any other area of the bike and wont cause issues else where? Also, what are the opinions of power washing the area with a degreaser at the local car wash?

Engine Brite Gel is a good degreaser/cleaner. All you have to do is make sure engine is not hot, spray gel all over the motor, let sit for a couple minutes, and then just use garden hose to spray it off. No need to go to the carwash and use high pressure. Just make sure you rinse it off real well or it becomes a dust magnet. Old toothbrush helps out with some of the rougher spots

Re: Cleaning Tips

Another vote for Simple Green (diluted, if necessary - read the directions on the back of the bottle) and a little elbow grease...

When i worked at a detail shop..we used Hot Stuff Degreaser. Most amazing stuff ive ever used. Harsh as hell..but if used right, you can use it on a lot of applications. The shop owner used it all around the cars' contact spots too (bumpers, kickpanels, wheel wells, etc) and it took tar and bugs off better than any Tar n Bug remover out there.

Like J's suggestion..idk if you can find it OTC either..but if u can find it, get it
