Do I have the rotor lined up right? Valve adjustment.

Hey guys,

I have the repair manual but on the photo in the manual its kind of hard to make out. Do I have the mark set right to do the valve check? I have the line perpendicular to the pick-up.

Yes, stick a screwdriver in the plug hole to check. When the screwdriver reaches its top, that's TDC and those marks should line right up.

How would this differ in relation to an advancer?? Would you line it up the same?

Anyone have pics of an advancer installed??

There shouldn't be enough duration in the cam profiles that a few degrees, such as the amount a typical advancer provides, would make any difference. All you are trying to do is ensure that the adjuster in question is over the base circle of the cam when adjusting it. If you're worried about it, offset the adjuster by the amount of the advance it provides. It won't matter but it might make you feel better.
