cut a rectangle from the srad tank around the pump mount,
cut the k's pump mount out
fab infill pannel to fill any remaining gap
get it welded into the srad tank....
before cutting and welding get it cleaned!..... we dont want anyone going bang!
definitely make a template before any cutting. one that will cover both pump mounts. when i cut mine out i had enough room from the 1000 tank to cover the srad tank bottom
dont cut anything check this out this is what i just did and i think it looks good and fits really close.. i used a 2001 gsxr tank on my bike with a 2004 1000 round style pump to go with my swap bike runs mint ..tank needs a dent to be fixed and some paint to match but fits really good and serves it purpose
all you have to do is ream the holes in the front of the tank to line up on the frame and use your old 99 rear tank bracket so it has the correct space in the back that it bolt it all on and enjoy..good luck
right, i know this isnt everyones idea of what an srad should be used for but im just posting as an idea for people (measured performance data!)
before i get a beating i dont run it like this on the street all the time i shorten her up with the stock 600 arm, good for 1wheel fun.... oh and going round corners
i have the 01/02 1000 engine that will make about 145bhp and the wheel
powercommander3usb and scorp bolt on and k&n air filter are the only power boosting mods.... not really boosting but you know what i mean! still running the 750fi fuel pump
much respect to Suzuki for making such a monster motor!
drag mods
-2+1 sprockets - busa arm with 7-9inc extenders - strapped front - QA throttle - lowered about 2inc - race shift - reduced psi in rear tyre
been running and in daily use for 4 years (apart from ban time!) so far. if it went bang ide be putting an 05-06 into her as its about 20bhp up! but cant see that happening for a while yet!
next year i should have the N2O plumbed in and we will see if she can crack 8's
just a massive help to the man Skidmark for starting this thread and giving me the idea and the help in answering a few Q's along the way!
a little confused. Why do this and not just buy a 1000? after buying all the parts you can get a complete 1000 for cheaper than doing all this work. Just wondering, not being a smartass.
The Sleeper effect..... having a 1000 cc in a bike that never had a production 1000cc motor... blowing away a bike that thinks they are racing an older 600/750
Insurance in some places (like Canada) charge outrageous premiums for "R" sportbikes. So if you can save a little by having it registered as a 600 then that helps.

if you can find a complete 08 1000 for less than 2200 bucks (what i have in my bike) with crg levers, yoshimura rearsets. dyno tuned through the ecu. all braided likes, and so on. then by all means do it.
Ripper hows about starting your own thread on your swap good starting point could be from the frame up. Im interested on how youve mounted the motor I understand theres transission plates to hold the cylinder head, The Question is really did you cut the sump. Or did you move the side stand bracket.
All Srad conversions
I know its been over a year for me to respond to this.... sorry
I did shave the bottom mount (sump) and I didn't move the side stand bracket as I wanted to keep the OEM Kick stand in place.
I will start my own thread with the rebuild of the bike with the 2006 1000 motor. I have a friend who wants to make mounts from aluminum ... which will have the option of welding the rear mount or bolting it and transition plates for the Right and Left Head.. I am trying to get these mounts available for a kit for those of us who love SRAD's but want a quality kit to upgrade the powerplant.
I said reciently I am building another It will look stock but have an 2002 1000 motor. I plan on selling this one to buy a set of BST wheels that I can swap between my SRAD 1000 and my 2007 GSXR 1000

Man I did something similar a couple of years ago and got same result in 4 hrs - I fitted a full set of SRAD fairings and seat unit to a K2 1000 - crazy to do it the other way round bro but respect man.
