I'm looking at getting a pair of the SMX 5 boots for street and occasional track day use. My question is around what temperature does it become uncomfortable without the ventilation? I don't particularly want the black ones but they only come vented in black. Its generally between 55 and 75 year round where I live. Thanks in advance for any input!

Although mine are vented, I have ridden in 90+ degree temps and haven't noticed much of an issue. Then again at that temp, everything is sweating including my feet so it's not a big deal. But keep in mind my discomfort level could be different than yours. If your temps are between 55-75 year round, I don't think you will have a problem, even without ventilation. It's a decent boot for the price.
Mine are not....I ride in 60- 90 degree weather....no issues.
Awesome, thanks that'll be my temp range probably too. I have a high tolerance for heat and very low for cold anyhow. I'll be getting the white and yellow ones.

No prob. I also got the non-vented just in case t rains...keep the feet a bit dryer.
On boots I can't tell the difference I ride track from low 40s in the winter to up to 105 in the summer. In the summer my feet seem to be just as sweaty in the heat with or without the perfed it doesn't bother me though on my feet. Now my suit is a whole other story
Alright cool, my current boots aren't perf but I wasn't sure if it made a big difference for these. I have the tech 1-r jacket which is perforated and I'm planning on getting the track pants to make a two piece suit and the boots and I'll be track ready
I have SMX-5s unvented and never noticed excessive heat, I now have Supertech-Rs that are vented, still dont have temp problems.
I would suggest stepping up to the SMX+ at least. The 5s have next to zero lateral support. You can take a pair and fold them in half with your hands, not enough to protect your ankles in a crash.
Imagine how much more expensive reconstructive surgery on your ankle can be. How much would it cost to limp around for the rest of your life?
Save up more. It is worth the money.
Where are you looking??
Call Jason at STG. Dont go on the site, CALL him.
You can afford blue headlight crap and double bubble windshields, you can afford bettre protection for yourself.
The headlights cost me $10 and my time to do myself and the windscreen came on the bike from the PO... I'm sorry but you don't know my financial situation or anything about me. $250 on boots will do for me, thanks. I've got a wife to support and bills and rent to pay.
