How to touch up swingarm : Suzuki GSX-R Motorcycle Forums: Gixxer.com

How would you guys suggest touching up a small mark on a swingarm, about the size of a coin, on my 2006 GSXR 750?

It's worn through the paint and has slightly corroded the metal. I was thinking of spraying it but I can't think of any paint that would match the swingarm.

Personally, i would clean it with alcohol and then hit it with a black paint stick or one of the little bottles of touch up paint that come with the brush. Hell, i have even used a magic marker before.

I used a small paint brush to touch up one of the holes that my chain guard was mounted to.
Any flat black will blend in nicely, I'll post a picture of the stuff I got when I get home later this evening. 99% match.

You can touch it up, but that won't help the corrosion much...

I personally would take the swingarm off, sand blast it and get it powder coated.

Ha, bit extreme. What if I rubbed the salt off with sandpaper and then touched it up.

But I don't want to make it any worse than it is.

That's not salt, that's the remains of your swing arm.

Clean the aluminum down to bright shiny metel with a stainless brush or aluminum oxide paper. Do not use any steel or iron abrasives (iron oxide paper, etc) It imbeds in the aluminum and causes future corrosion problems.

Treat the clean metel with alodine if you can get it. Zinc chromate primer is the best, but I guess there were too many two headed frogs so it is no longer sold as far as I know. There are also "zinc rich" aluminum primers that work well.

The color is basically black, the key to a good appearance is the texture. Look for satin or semi-gloss black. I think you will find it to be a very close match.

Mine is marked up too from my boots rubbing on it from the track. Once you learn to live with it, it's not bad. Plus, most people won't really notice that.
