Re: New from Indiana
That price is high.
Talk them into throwing in some free gear, or knock a few bucks off a GoPro or something.(if you're absolutely set on the bike)
Otherwise neg. the price down.
If you're concerned about the Rectifier/Regulator(charging component) on this bike...ask the dealer to test it. Or better yet...BRING a multi-meter with you.
Fire up the bike, let it warm up and return down to Idle. Then set the Meter to 12V(DC), and touch the Leads up to the battery, with the bike running. You should have around 13.5volts at Idle or so. If you have 12v or less...charging system is BAAAADDDD.
A Digital Multi-meter has TWO Leads, Red(Positive) and Black(Negative).
All you do is touch the Black Lead to the (-) post on the battery, and Red Lead to the (+) post of the battery....done.
Also, if you rev the bike up, the voltage should Increase to around 14v's...or so.
If it goes any higher than 15...I'd say you're OVER-charging...which is a failed R/R as well!
(R/R's basically "manage" the charging voltage coming from the Stator, and so a R/R can Fail BOTH ways...Too little charge...or too High of a charge...resulting in white residue on the battery or bike frame)
