F**k you Sandy....
Well, my neighbor had previously been down near my beach condo in Ortley Beach, NJ. We thought we had been okay, um yea so not.
I was originally told that water only was up 18" at best.
Well I finally got down there and found the water had actually went up to 5'-3"
Meaning the entire two bedroom place is a wash. The back sliding glass doors were blown out and much of the bedroom furniture was in the kitchen.
It's unbelievable how much sand is in the place. There must be 5 inches of beach sand through out the entire place. Funny, the fridge was in the back bedroom and 4 beach chairs are MIA.
Oh well, now the rebuild...
Sandy....

Wait I thought clips said there wasn't any damage there. Maybe he will show up and tell you everything will be ok after he posts those pictures of the cool college kids scoring all the free gourmet groceries while talking on their IPhones.
But seriously,
Damn man sorry to hear about that. Hopefully insurance will get you back to normal quickly.

Haha. I know about SANDY. I was more wondering about coverage. I went down to LA after Katrina and I remember one of the team leaders talking about flood insurance being controlled by the federal government and you only get coverage up to $100,000.

Yea...
There was a little storm roll thru, Hurricane Sandy, you may have heard of her?
The road (Rt. 35) the condo is on.
Just an FYI...Sandy was not a hurricane when it hit NJ, it was a subtropical cyclone.
Anyway, sorry about your place, at least you were not down there when the shit hit the fan.
BTW, if you know anyone that needs a crib, let me know. We have one in the garage that's in very good shape and it's free to anyone who needs it. We also might have some kids clothing (boys) but I'll have to check with the wife since she's been giving it to a family in Staten Island that lost everything.

Yea, NJ I was aware of the semantics. Luckily the assoc. covers all the structural. (walls, cabinets, flooring)
I'll ask around about the crib. Fortunately, all of the folks where the condo is are just seasonal. Nobody lives here year round, all summer places.
Wow, that really sucks. I have to go to Wildwood/Cape may area next week....Not sure if they got hit hard or not though. I can remember when the family tattoo shop got flooded during Isabel, absolutely destroyed the place. We were right near the flood wall and some how the city of richmond had "misplaced" the flood doors while they were off for some sort of repair/paint idk.
I know this is an old thread but I thought I would share the damage to my place. Mine was not as bad as your I had 4' of water in the house, I prep for the storm by raising everything up 2-3'. I even took out my kitchen base cabinets and raised them up. Well that didn't go well at all I had 4' of water in the house. We pretty much lost everything that we left behind. I managed to save a couple of my tool boxs, my bike, cars and the clothes we took with us. I've been back in the house since the 3rd week of April. Landlord had no insurance and State Farm dropped my contents insurance the month before along with everyone else south of Merrick rd. Fema came in like they were really going to help, supplied temp rental assistance and said they were going to give some grant money but retracted that and told me to go to the SBA which offered me a loan that I couldn't pay back so I didn't take the loan. Then fema said we can't give you grant money because they offered me a loan. I know people in my neighbor hood that have insurance and still can't get their money. Fema is giving millions to save the Piping Clover birds but my neighbor hood is still 50% vacant because insured people are not getting their money or they are getting little bits every few months. The price you pay for having mother nature as a neighbor.
