gsxr inlet rubbers

hi all at the moment i have a set of mikuni rs 38 on my gsxr 1100 M 1991 later on i will be putting so kehein 41mm.
i have read and heard about people putting gsxr 750 inlet rubbers on a 1100 what is the advantage ? more torque etc and will my carbs fit on them ok or will be safe if they do not to have rubbers made bigger so they fit

The advantage is that you don't have to use a press to get your carbs on
also it gives you a reason for a little headwork, you can have it port matched for the boots, not a huge difference but it will get rid of the little lip between the intake boot and port or you can go all out with the head, the 1100's really come to life from head and valve jobs esp if you oversize the valves a little, 30mm IN and 27mm EX if memory serves.
Do you have motor work done to your 1100??
41's are a bit overkill for a stock motor but they will work, 39's would be a better choice for a semi stockish motor.
If your buying new I would opt for the 39's unless your getting a smokin deal on the 41's.

at the moment the engine is stock except cams i want to put a big block on either a 1216 or 1340 i thought 41mm kehein would be best but i am open to help as not sure what is best and what will give me best performance without lag just that seen few articles where people have put these carbs on help is much appreciated

A 1216 can make a great street / strip motor, you have cams already a little massaging of the head and it would fly and a set of 39's would feed it well.

A 1340 with all the supporting mods is going to want more, I would def go with 41's on it, it's street manners can be touchy tho with heat being the biggest enemy.
granted you will have heat for an enemy in anything you do to it and even now being stock, the best thing I can suggest is to step back and ask yourself what kind of riding your going to do with it and then build according to that.

Hi Guys,

Im new to the thread/forum and like the info coming through u guys.

Im in australia and the gsxr 1100 have the makuni's 38, I have taken the bike to a bike shop and they push it into the corner for 3mths.

I have got a new set of rs38s makuni's and they are the same width as the old ones. The only problem i have is that the out side diameter is smaller then the originals and the boots are a loose fit on them.

Im doing it myself and any advice is helpful, its a great old bike and i would love to get it cranked up again.

You will need the carb intake manifolds from an 1100 around 1990. You must have had 38 Mikuni CV (slingshot) carbs on there before as they have larger intakes even tho they were from a 750.
Hopefully you kept the old carbs. Someone will want them.

89-90-91-92 1100 in us all with 36 bst
89-90 rest of the market 36 bst
91-92 with 40
38 carbs are only for 750 90-91 (and 92 in us)

BUT
rs 36 and 38 must be fitted with 36 mainfold
rs 40 with 38 or 40 mainfold


no 11 came original with 38 bst
