K5 is done- 1070cc, light/balanced crank, ported head, Web cams, TRE, BMC, Ti-Force, V-Stacks, serious dyno time. Very happy with it. Now I want to build a K9. Do the same tricks work on the newer engine? If not, where should I start to ultimately achieve 200+ rwhp? Thanks.

Bro, just buy a ZX10R and be done with it. I hear it can kill unicorns, fairies, and shit.
It looks like the largest big-bore kit for the K9+ is 1039cc (If anyone has seen bigger let me know). If I do that plus some good top end work (head & cams) I might be able to get some good ponies out of this thing.
Q: With some of the oiling going through the crankshaft has anyone dared to stroke or lighten/balance the crank? If so, any word of complications? The light/bal crank onmy K5 feels great and I want to do the same thing on this project. Thanks.
We use complete cartridge replacements on all the BPF's....just take the entire guts out of it and replace it.
The 05-08 forks are basicly the same...[/QUOhi
ive got an 091000 with BPFs forks, question? are the gold valves worth upgrading too with ohlin springs, or can i use 06-08 forks im 170lbs im just trying to find better grip on the side of the tyre i use k1 meztlers, and i dont want track type set up as its not a race bike has anyone done a good mod on these?
Anyone know who sells Yosh Kit parts for k6 1000? More specifically midpipe for the 4-1 full system (The system that uses the offset oilpan)? Every place ive emailed has ignored me...
Also talking performance, what exhaust was best in your experiences for the K6 with head work, yosh cams, em pro etc etc?
So true..... you develop more tq without it lightened.
I really like the spin-up of the motor. The acceleration is nasty. I even get a kick out of the deceleration.
It feels like the motor revs with less effort. No doubt it doesn't have the same low end "punch" but I like the higher rev stuff anyway. Going from the South course to the North course at Autobahn (long connecting straight) the thing just screams!
Chip im a suzuki men from top to bottom do u thing they are getting a little left behind with the BMW and ZX10 advancements or is something good coming..
Chip - I have a lightened crank (ex-APE) with 76mm Wiseco pistons 13.5:1 CR with Carpenter cams on adjustable APE cam sprockets:
Intake .397" lift, 248deg of duration at 0.040" with
Exhaust .350" lift, 244deg of duration at 0.040"
It seems the cost of porting by CNC/other is around $1000 give or take, but the porting alone returns around 5hp approx. So if I do my own hand porting & do the "standard" clean-up the return on $$ may be better value if the result is even 2 to 3hp.
Would you agree with this or would you advise a CNC porting job? Is it worth $1000 for the extra 3hp for just a weekend track bike?
Hi Chip with this statement=Pair valve mod where you rout the crankcase vent up to the ports in the valve cover and inject he crank case pressure back into the exhaust. The venturi effect can actually pull air out causing a negative pressure in the crank case. Thus....hp. When routing this to the valves do you separate and run them to both or can I run it to just one on the 05-06 1000. And how do you inject the crank C pressure back into the exhaust (sorry I dont understand).
My second quest. is im going to be running a mild ported head with stock pistons and would you recommend a slightly thinner head gasket? For cam timing im putting adjustable sprockets on, im a fat boy racer at 260lbs I'll be racing at Topeka- Brainerd- and Road America I think what I want is more midrande right what would work for me for cam timing? Ill be running non oxygenated 91+ pump gas. I now Brainerd and R.A. are longer tracks but with my weight would the midrandge help me more and this is on my 06 1000? Thank for all the insight on this hole thread you rock thank you for posting this!!!
