my boy (the one that called his brothers to tow my truck home) has the same truck but gas. I'll see if he wants to buy it for whatever the insurance gives it to me.

I find the S10 does a swell job at pulling any load less than 25,000 pounds..

I'm really considering the chevy that i linked. diesel, crew cab and it looks to be in great shape. If i get 8k after paying it off i only need to finance roughly 3k. but it has 180k miles. I can deal with 2wd.

also the diesels that i'm considering will give me 20+mpg without towing.
Not sure about the mileage though. 180k is kind of steep. My f250 had 127k when i bought it.

180k steep for a diesel

180k it is just getting broken in good
We have trucks pushing 400k and still running pretty well.
My F350 gets 10ish mpg towing all the time

I've seen trucks with 1/2 a million miles and getting the heads pulled for the first time that looked fantastic & ran like a champ.

Trans rebuilt might be coming up at 200kish but if the truck is cheap its worth it. You can get a BUILT trans for under 2k(at least here)
Mines only got 145,000 on it
