Not getting married, and she is going to try to come over either on a student VISA, get her masters from Cambridge or University of London. If that doesn't work, she plans on getting a visitors VISA and visit for 6 months and test waters.
i would recommend a visit to the dentist before going. i don't think that the law allows dentists in the UK.
I have to agree with you on this one. Dental care here is a joke unless your prepared to put your hands deep into your pockets. 1 white filling sarts at £85 , crown starts at £250 root chanle I've paid £450. Clean £60. Also for some people who use NHS dentists its impossible for them to rejister as there are not enough dentists to cater for the population. Private is good but it's really expensive.
Not everyone in UK has a mouth like a trash can. I think it's fair to say per population you have your own share of dirty mankey fuckers also. But we won't talk about that.

Re: I'm UK Bound
A Brit has to go out of their way to make it to the dentist...and when they do, the dentist makes recommendations that are painful. Turns off many to go in the first place.
Fortunately for Mac, there is a dental clinic on base that does annual check-ups. Don't miss your appointment Mac; the AF gives out LOCs/LORs for no-shows. But you already know that.
You didn't give the guys much of an expiation, I would have thought you would have at least explained so they wouldn't have a scured view of things but your silence may indicate your due a visit to the dentist. Rocks in glass houses!!!

You talkin' to me?
Not here to throw stones. My niece, who lives in Haverhill, told me her last visit was an uncomfortable experience. I may have interpreted this as the standard and for that I apologize.
My in-laws live in Haverhill and the surrounding areas and I've also lived in East Anglia from 1989 to 1993.

Fortunately for Canada, there are no American bases there (that we know of). Mac is getting ready to live in England for 3 years. If it's his first overseas assignment, he will experience serious "Culture Shock". But I think he will do alright once he gets settled.
No culture shock here, I've lived in Europe before, and travelled a bunch. I've spent damn near a year overseas, TDY in just Japan in the 9 years I've been in.
Found out I can only have one vehicle while I'm there, so I really have to figure out what I want. Hoping to get something that allows me to tow the bike around for track days.

What to do, what to do.
Well, if you get hitched your spouse can bring a car too. (I'm joking bout that!)
One thing that I remember is '"Mericans" bringing big-ass trucks and the roads are not built for them. I'd go with a Tacoma size truck with a hitch (that, I'm not joking about).
Your bike can go in HHGs and I'm sure a trailer too. If not, buy a used one while you're there.
England was my first out of US experience and it was discouraging at 22 yrs of age. More power to you Mac...enjoy it!
