So im new to the site but i joined hoping i could get some advice on a couple of problems im having with my bike, i have an 05 gsxr 600 with about 40k miles on it, its my first bike and have had it for 2years now
from time to time when i am stopped at a red light my bike dies suddely, its almost as if someone pushed the kill switch, i can simply start it up again but im wondering why it does that, it will die even at 150 degress so its not b/c its cold, but when it IS cold (below 100degress) the bike idles down and dies, i dont think adjusting the idle is the problem since it runs at 1100rpms at anything above 150 degrees
could it be a faulty sensor?
also i need to push and "lift" the clutch when i want to start my bike. i've read it could be the clutch switch?
i dont have the service manuel but im guessing 12-1300 should be good. when it dies it doesnt idle down and turn off, it just cuts off
also i went out today and to my surprise the bike does not start at all, i can hear the fuel pump, lights turn on and everything but when i go to start it, it doesnt turn over, im going to try and push start it
i honeslty think something is wrong with the clutch switch or lever
The clutch switch is held on by a screw....and the wiring is a simple plug... You can figure it out..Trust me.. You don't need to replace the cable or lever unless the lever is broke or the cable is stretched or frayed... You might just need a tune-up (plugs) and to raise your idle a bit IMO. At 40k miles...when is the last time the bike had some new spark plugs?
Spark plugs are about a year old so is the battery,
Soo i offically dislike my bike right now, push starting it worked, but when i try and turn it on all i hear is a click, so im guessing i can rule out the clutch switch. the power shuts off when i press the starter button but i do get power when i turn the key
I agree with the geek. Check the battery; and the battery cable connections. My bike was doing this 6 months ago and it turned out to be a loose battery cable.
