i cant figure it out. trying to bolt the seat latch to either one of the cross members. i believe theres 4 screws that hold it down with nuts on the opposing side but the bolt holes just dont line up. forgive my ignorance as i have an 85 and i am converting it to an 86. this is the front latch, the gold one with the double tit acceptor. lmfao
Yup - just checked my 8611 - large gold metal assembly with edge 2 pin-holes & 1 central spring-loaded pin (not 2) on front crossmember, cable mounted to front left, mounted with 4 screws in the wider-separated crossmember holes with flanged nuts on bottom. Smaller black plastic assembly with 1 pin-hole mounted with diagonal 2 screws/nuts in narrower holes on rear crossmember, cable to left side. Never seen the 85 but the swap guide says 86 latches are supposed to bolt on the 85 frame if you move the big one to the front and put the small on at the rear. http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/model...0-seat-model-g
see heres the funny thing, both of my cross members have the same bolt spacing. making it not possible to bolt the gold one on. both cross members have the same bolt spacing used in the lock latch, the spring loaded gold latch has a different spacing making it not possible... weird? i read the interchange and im confused to heck now
My crossmembers look identical too, can put either assembly on either crossmember. I thought the 85 had the big assembly on the rear crossmember? If so, and you say both crossmembers are identical it must fit on the front one.
Sorry, my 85 frame had holes there, thus the entry in the interchange. I guess someone could have drilled them over the years ....but they appeared OEM to me ......
thing about that is that there is larger dime sized holes just out of line with the bolt holes that hold the little latch on. Therfore i dont have the "meat" to be able to sufficiently start banging new holes into the x member. Ill see if i can get some pics of what I have
