i have to applaud you in all your efforts. i wish my dad which im no longer on speaking terms with (another story for another day) would have taken more time with me and my hobbies. i purchased my own toys 4x4 four wheelers that progressed to racing quads that progressed to dirtbikes, which then led to my current hobbies streetbikes.
he was never around i had no one to show me "the ropes" everything i learned it was learned the hard way i have plenty of scars and dr bills to prove it. but if my father or anyone for that matter would have taken the time to show me, teach me, and make me understand the rules of the road (what to do when this happens, watch that car, etc.) i would be a more proficient rider than what i am now.
but only being 23 and on my second sportbike i hope to be able to continue riding for many years to come, and one day share my passion with my children like you are doing now. and props to your daughter i still can't successfully split a case and put it back together and have everything work RIGHT

I was just commenting on the good squat form.
Ironic since a lot of guys who lift don't squat low.
She started out the morning like a snail, she was in a private class with one other student, also on a 250. Later in the day I saw her out there going on her own and I thought that it was odd that the instructor let her go out on her own.
Come to find out she was just pulling away from the other student, they couldn't hang.
All was going well until the afternoon, fatigue set in and she went wide in a right hander, she was just standing the bike up when she ran over the rumble strip and the rear tire went out into the dirt, with the front tire still on the track. (the strips here are like ice). The bike went pogo bucking style and launched her off it like a trampoline, the bike then went side ways and started to tumble and kicked up a huge dirt cloud and all I saw was her white helmet disappear into the cloud.
EMS was on it right away and was blocking the view so I couldn't see from the pits wtf was going on. She came back under her own strength, no injury.
I forgot to tell her two very critical things about that day
1st don't go near the rumble strips, this isn't motoGP
2nd, if at any point your tired, can't focus, get off the track.
So we now have a dedicated 250r track bike in the house.

My dad would have hesitated doing the same for me, but my sister, he'd of shit himself on the way to the dealership to buy her a bike at 15. She really was that mature and if she wanted to do it, there would have been no need to question it.
Me, I already had a few bikes by then, but not a street bike that I could legally ride on the street. He may have let me get one, who knows...
Now, funny thing is, I worry about him on the road. I've seen his elaborate method for adjusting his mirror, it requires replacing a turn signal...

She likes the track and is eager to get the bike back and going for next season. We are using the off season to rebuild the bike, with some upgrades. Fitting a zx6 shock in it now.
I have read this whole thread and being a father of Two young girls who have been riding a 50cc dirt bike I can under stand your struggle you want her to ride but you want her to be safe. The 1st time my oldest took a tumble on the bike my hart sunk to my ankles and I ran to her side by the time I got there she was already on her feet and trying pick up the bike she looked at me with a scared face and said I'm sorry Dad I hope I didn't brake the bike. I had to smile as I could care less about the bike.
As a parent you aways struggle with at what age to let them do this and not do that and a lot of the time I was doing those thing long before I would allow any of my girls to do it but that was then this is now and I judge my decisions on the way things are today not what they were when I was there age because the times and people have changed and not all for the better. My wife is very very disapproving when it comes to the girls and motorbikes but let them ride because of the time we have together and to her disappointment they really like it.
I take my hat off to you and your girl as after the first crash she had most parents would have just said that's it no more bikes but you both understand that you don't have to be mucking around or going to fast for accident on a road Bike to happen.
Your daughter is also very brave and by the look at the photos well and truly hooked on her Bike. Better bikes then drugs or the wrong kind of people.
I only hope I get the chance to go out riding with my girls one day as you have with yours. And I long for the day I come home and find one or both of them with tools out working on their bikes it will be a proud day 😃

Your right this is a great thread please continue to post pics and tell the story of your daughters progress I was telling my oldest about your daughter tonight over dinner and she was so worried for her every time I told of when she crashed, and was surprised when I told her that she got back on the bike again.
Very inspiring and good to hear some good stuff about young riders instead of bad all the time.

Reading the replies/testimonials on this thread is very inspiring to me. The love of a father and "taking under your wing" approach is what being a parent is all about.
I'm learning about myself just from what others have written and it is very soothing to my spirit. Thanks to everyone for sharing your life's experiences.
