Re: Really? :lmao

Some of my favorite quotes from the article:

Quote:
“The people just blew his brains out,” Kniceley said. “They could have done something else.”
Quote:
Kniceley admitted Carson had a criminal record for assault, theft and domestic violence. However, she said, “They should have taken different precautions.”
Quote:
“I could replace anything in their house. They aren’t going to replace my brother,” he said.

Inappropriate / stupid to go there, yes... but understandable. The family of the lowlife were upset and grief stricken. Not like they came seeking vengeance or anything.

If someone comes in my house at night when my daughter is there, I wouldn't think twice about using any/all the force I can, nor would I feel the slightest twinge of regret if the lowlife dies. Call it an occupational hazard.

Re: Really? :lmao

I don't feel the Home Owner's did anything wrong... especially after hearing the suspect was a violent offender.

If someone broke into my home with intention of theft, I'd rather remove a hand or length of arm with a katana, or ax, leaving them alive with a lasting memory from the incident. To me that is justice, they do not die, and they are likely not to try it again. The sad thing is, in this country I would then get charged for a violent crime, and he would go in for a short stint, get out, and likely repeat the offense.

However, if I just shot and killed him, it's considered self-defense. Just my .02 but that solves nothing, and the system seems a bit flawed.

Either way, the family of the repeat offender is completely in the wrong and should realize it.

Re: Really? :lmao

ExPat, you would take someone's hand or arm for taking your tv. You don't think they will come back to take your life for taking their arm? Burglary doesn't come with much time. They may plan on coming back with their own plan or "justice".

Well, the COULD have offered the burglar tea and biscuits...

If you're going to break into someones house, prepare to die. Period.

In a sense I believe an eye for an eye but not knowing someones background I think they were justified as long as it was true that he lunged at them or in some way felt there life was at stake.

Just breaking into my house when anyone in my family is home is enough to get your ass dead. I don't care if you're in my kitchen and we're on the other side of the house. If you break into my house, you are going to eat lead.

I like your comment...

First off I don't think of it as he's just taking my TV, I think of it as he is a hostile. Secondly, there is a slim chance he would go against nature and still attempt retaliation to his own demise, and no, I would not fear him returning, based on the body's physiological response to stress.

If you get in a fight with someone, and they punch you in the face, it is an expected response. It may send your body into "fight" mode with adrenaline, anger, etc. triggered.
However, if they crushed your windpipe or hyper extended your elbow, unless you are trained, a typical person has no mental preparedness for that, and their brain will immediately go to "flight/survival" mode.

Same applies to weapons. If someone pulls a gun on you, your brain begins studying your options... If someone takes your limb, your brain begins finding escape routes! Anytime your brain enters this mode through force you usually have a fear response of that situation from that point forward.

Food for thought....

Aaah, but thats just it. A dead man tells no stories. For all we really know, that man broke or stammered into their house high on drugs, unaware and not there to harm anyone. Thats unlikely, but Im just making an example.

Either way self defense is self defense. You cant afford to take that chance. This is borderline political.
