Re: the new girl.

I have an account but I'm more of a lurker on ninjette.org. I don't really go there too often unless I need to look up how to fix something with my kawibaby.

Not sure what's going on with the smilie responses but I'll add another one here just to be part of the group..

Re: the new girl.

I'd say go for it on your 600, your instructor will mosy likely ask about everyones riding ability and place you in the pack accordingly. If your still uncomfortable call the instructor and ask about your situation.

Re: the new girl.

Are the chances pretty high that your bike is going to be dropped a few times while you're on the track? Kind of hard to bear thinking about my baby getting scratched up. I haven't even had the gsxr for a full summer yet, only got it the end of the summer.

My thinking would be: "I will not drop it". If you think it, you will do it. (Either dropping it or not)

But chances are it may happen...just try not to.

I haven't made it to a track day (TD) but based on what I've read, try and lay her down nicely and put yourself in a position where you won't hurt yourself too much. The bike can be replaced but your body parts are a different story.

That's where that excellent gear you purchase comes into play. Good quality gear that I'm sure you can find from one of the site sponsors.

Have fun on your TD and learn/absorb as much as possible.

Later,

Ed

I have never done any track riding but would think that it depends on how much you push yourself. Push yourself hard enough and push your limits and you are more likely to drop your bike. Just realize that yes, there is a chance you will go down. In the U.S. or at least with Statefarm, you are covered by insurance unless you are racing for a purse and is viewed as a way to become a better/safer rider.

No, you won't drop it. Most tracks will only allow you to ride in a beginners group...meaning you take it nice and easy, and you follow an Instructor in a Bright orange vest.
(of course, some tracks will let anyone In...so you don't know "who" you're mixing with. Sometimes they will only "rent" to groups.)

If you're in a beginners group....
You won't even see high speeds, it's more of "getting the feel" of the track.
And you slowly progress and get used to sharing the track with others.
It's still very fun...because you get to Lean! lol

Also, make sure your bike has no oil leaks or other safety hazards, because you must go threw inspection before they allow you on the track.
Also, check the requirements of "clothing/gear", for beginners class.
They are usually pretty easy-going.
(minimum of boots, mesh pants, textile jacket, gloves, DOT helmet,etc...usually anything over Beginners require full leathers...you get the idea.)

(BTW: I used to work at NJMP, and that's how "they" did it, every track is slightly different.)

Good luck!
