Got a complete new head coming off a street bike w/ 1000 miles. That should be good enough to rebuild with I think. And the price was good enough that its cheaper than if I bought all new valves/springs/retainers/seals etc.
Once these come in I'll give a ring to Markbilt I guess and see about bringing this stuff down to him and have him tear it down, clean, prep and rebuild with possibly the thinner head gasket and cam sprockets........when I'm done if you want my old head to play around with Rich (port/polish, Serdi etc) let me know. Also I still have the injectors sitting around so when you have some more sets pulled to do a batch let me know.
Also got a set of pistons and con-rods. Seller said very low mileage and by the looks of the crowns and skirts it does look like these are pretty fresh. But I'll go ahead and order a set of fresh rings.
Still will also need Big end bearings. They are sized to the crank. they are not one size fits all.
Negative, look at the date of the article, it's 2 days old
Regardless of the date, I am absolutely certain I read that last year because I remember thinking "Man, I thought about blogging about starting racing at 37, but this guy did it before me" (although he started at 38)
Me and my family are heading down to Long Beach Island tomorrow to assess the damage and everything and winterize the house since there's not going to be any heat for like months.
Took a ride today on the bike in sweat pants, sweatshirt and sneakers. I was freezing cold and scared shitless but it felt good to be on 2 wheels!

I hate having no heat and no power. But I did finally get my rotors from motomummy, so maybe ill do that to entertain myself. Week 2 without work, supposedly power is back there so hopefully i can at least get back to work. Slept at Debs brothers last night to keep warm. Seems like everyone else made out pretty good. This generator has been getting a work out, i think when this is all over i might just spoil it a little bit with a good servicing. My stove still works so at least i been eating good.
