just got a 71 Kawi H1 as my pet project, sold a few cars and the gixxer is running well enough that I don't feel too bad gettin another mess. Working on it, she's old and will need a lot of tinkering to ride well but im chipping away at it.
AWESOME! I don't think that's a '71 tank... or much of ANY of the the original bike left there, is it? Looks like a GREAT project smoker!
Keep us updated, and post more pics if you like...
Long time NO POST in this thread! On a RARE exception to my normal routine... I actually got the Gamma OUT today and went for a RIDE! Let my buddy throw a leg over the FrankenRacer (AMA Racer/GSXR) and we went for a good country spin! I even let him ride the Gamma for his FIRST TIME! LOL! He was shaking after that short spin... and just couldn't get over how LITTLE it was after the Big Brother Gix!
When you notice your rear start to dig, hop off, put the kickstand down, hold your foot against the kickstand, then lean the bike on the stand toward you and turn the bike slightly... it sounds funny but once you get it down it's so much easier to get your rear wheel moved onto better ground!
Shoot, I should ride a bike like that to work... "Hey man where's your bike" "The Bike parking wasn't close enough, so I parked in the landscaping next to the building, like a boss!"
Question. I just noticed i left the gas on on my 125 since i last rode it a month ago. I could of sworn i turned it off. But anyway i had a 1/4 tank gas left when i last ran it. Now there is no gas at all in the tank. So did it all drain out the over flow line as it filled the carb or is it all sitting at the bottom of the crank case now?

Hmmm... I would think you could "tell" if it overflowed out the tube, no? Was it on a hard surface, or in dirt? I'd check my cases to be sure... that's a lot of fuel in the motor!
(Or it could be those FUEL GREMLINS that sneak up and siphon it out for their chain-saws when you least expect it!)
On a hard surface. Well thing is gasoline evaporates/dries kind of fast. So after a month I wouldnt of noticed it anyway. And yeah first thing I considered right away was one of those gremlins you speak of. But I got a "no, I swear" after confronting.
These bikes dont have view windows so how would I know for sure without draining the oil. Id hate to waste the oil. Yeah I know its cheaper than replacing the bottom end/gears etc if gas got in the oil.
Isnt the gearbox seperate from the crank/piston or does some of the oil in the gear box burn off in the engine too?

I could be wrong. Don't quote me on that.

Gearbox is separate chamber with self-contained gear oil. For a "cheap-n-lazy" check, if it's not a "fancy bike" you can always tilt it over slightly inverted (plug out, or pull carb at boot) and see what happens!
(I've drained a LOT of fuel from the case on a four-stroke before when float stuck, and intake track runner flowed the fuel INTO the motor! Good thing I drained, filled and then RELIGIOUSLY reverted to using a valve, not just relying on the float to shut it off after that!)

Right. I can see that with a 4 stroke bike where the crankcase/gearbox are not seperate and share the same oil. But this is a 2 stroke Im talking about. 05' RM125
Are you saying theres a chance gas still got there?

Not in the gear oil, but in the crank case...
(drain past the carb into the cylinder down to the case...)
Also, you could always put a LITTLE fuel back in and see where it goes?
