Any sugestions of where to locate a pair of accel coils on my 87 1100 Boiler?
I think there is not enoug clearance in the original location of the coils; I'm running pods, so maybe the best option is relocate the coils under the gas tank.
I will apreciate any ideas before unassemble the bike.
Thanks to everyone on this forum, this is my bible to mantain running my bike.

Re: Where to mount Accel coils
I put my Dyna coils under the tank. Made an aluminum bracket that bolts to the frame under there in a couple bolt holes that are not used and I have plenty of room in there now.
I don't have any pics but it was simple and effective.

Thanks man, i will use these mount position.
Did you use pop rivets to attach the new bracket to the frame?
I know there are small holes, but im scared to drill the frame. A lot fo people say, "Never drill holes in the frame". (i see you have another big hole in the frame, and do not see any crack or something).
Thanks again, i will do that job in the week. I got only the coils, and need to get a new wire set, and adapt it.
I will post pictures when the job was done.

Re: Where to mount Accel coils
I didn't do any drilling. I made the bracket longer and just flat so it overlaps the frame and used industrial strength Velcro to attach it to the frame. No need for the little spacers under the coils either.
Thanks Tony. Now i have an accel wire kit, so i will start the job these week (i hope tonight). Im searching an aluminium piece to make the bracket. I will do some tests and adjustements, to find the best solutions. Thanks to all for the suggestions and info.

I found a pic of a great job in on other forum.
First i will mount it my coils provisionally (yo make tests and adjustements) , and when all is working ok, i want to copy that job.
Final pics.
I know it look like mexican style mount, but i want to respect the frame, and use the original thread holes. I dont have time to test the bike, but i crank it, with spark plugs out, and the spark was so much stronger than the standard coils. I start it, and sounds good, so i believe it was a good upgrade.
