1996 gsxr 1100 carb issues, need some input please!
hey everyone, i have an issue that has probably been discussed here more than enough times. i have a 96 gsxr 1100w that the carbs are giving me grief. the rpms dont seem to want to come back down past 3k when ever its revved up past 5.5 or 6k rpms. anyone know what this might be? ive pulled the carbs and completely cleaned them and rebuilt them closely following the bad ass carb sticky here. the bike idles fine and runs great but when ever stopped for too long or stopped at a light, the rpms will either rev up to 3.5k from idle or wont come back down past 3.5k. this is pretty irritating since its my girls bike and the only solution she can find is to drag the clutch (i know, i know, ive told her that i dont feel like replacing the clutch!) but thats all she can do to bring the rpms back down to idle. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. any help or input or even direction would be greatly appreciated. thank you very much.

yeah, i forgot to add that, the idle is set to factory specs (1100 - 1200 rpm), the choke cable is not hooked, and the throttle cables are not adjusted at all (throttle tube has about 3/4 inch of play). at this point i thought it might be the intake boots but ive been spraying carb cleaner all around the carbs, (air box side and engine side) and the rpms dont change. eventhough im thinking the intake boots might be old and have some sort of tear or leaks or something.

I know it's not fun yanking the carbs but when was the last time you had a look at the mechanical function of the throttle slides, more to see if they are returning to the proper position (i.e. synchronization is where I'm going here)?
This is a bit of a stretch here but severely worn emulsion tubes might be hanging the needle up a little but that's a real 'way out there' idea at this point.
Oh, and about that 3/4 inch of play, is that on the pull or the push cable or both? That's way out of limits. Ideal adjustment is a few mm's.

well i know i synced the carbs so they are pretty much spot on. and as far as the throttle, i ment that the cables arent tightened at all hence the free play, the cables are hooked up but they are not tight. at this point, im thinking it needs a valve adjustment and im going to pull the intake boots and coat them in rtv to ensure they are not leaking.
