No the 94 motor is in good shape.
I have the fiche manuals and part #s and have thought about tearing it down and replacing the gears myslef.
or I do have a mechanic that will do it for $400 if I buy the parts.
I just thought if I can pick the 93 motor up pretty cheap I can swap it and ride and then tear down the 94 and fix it as I get time ansd money and that way I can also mod it up while not having down time on the bike.
Does your 94 motor have extreamly high miles? The reason i ask is because getting your second gear back is easier then swapping a motor.......
I think you should rethink that last one. You have to take the motor out just to replace the gear, etc. Might as well just put one that isn't broken back in and save the time. Fix the busted on later.
That was my thinking too. If i fix the gear I have to pull the motor out anyway and then tear it down as well. i thought if the 93 motor would slide right in it would be a much easier task and less time consuming as I want a 2nd gear asap.
I don't understand why the 2nd gear always breaks on these motors anyway? Does anyone know? I know my old 600 when it had 40,000 miles on it would miss second sometimes when I clicked up from first, but it would still go in when I hit the lever a second time. Is this the same kind of problem you guys are having?
