Steering stems.

I've read the post re compatible parts and understand the best way of fitting a late model front end is to press the stem out of existing yoke and press back in to late model's triples.

This I have no problem with, thing is I'm starting with nothing so all I need is a suitable stem to fit the slingshot head.

So basically the cheaper the bottom yoke the better, well why not, going to be throwing most of it in the bin.

So heres my list of probable donors.

GSX600/750 (tea pots here in uk)
All GSX1100 inc R up to and in wn
GS550/650/750/850/1000/1100 (inc Powerscreen)
GSXR750/1100 F-M

There maybe a few others but I reckon that gives me a wide range to look for bargains

Please feel free to tell me I'm wrong on any of above choices

Of course if any member has any suitable yokes I'm prepared to pay for part and delivery.

Thanks for your time

Pref K series simply because they will be the youngest therefore the least likely to need to much cleaning up etc before fitting them. (the way I see it is that any money saved on purchase can soon be swallowed up on new seals, re chroming etc)

I read some where that k's will slot straight in to the 91 yokes with only spacers for the wheels required to finish the job. Would this be the same for all slingshot usd yokes or just specific to the 91's

Thanks for info, would have taken months to find all that on lime.
Nice work by the way.

Have gsxr 750 m frame, 750 srad arm with 5.5 rim, busy looking for suitable shock on flea bay .

Riding style......fast road and this causes me a bit of a delema re choice of engine. Do I go for light weight 6. That I can thrash.everywhere or the brute force of the 1127.

@jarvis: What year GSXR are you working on and what sort of riding are you doing? As mentioned, you can swap across a number of new front ends right into your bike without too much trouble.

The big advantage of getting a front end like the one Ghostie has on his bike is that you can then have radial brakes. You'll have be reasonably competent with machining or sourcing the right parts and making sure that you don't cause any trouble to the steering/suspension with your mods. Definitely spend some time on your rear suspension if you upgrade the front.

The k series shock has a fixed resivior , will this clear the bracing on the srad arm. Also do You know the length between hole centres.
Sourcing one not problem. Several on ebay.
Also.have hagon adjustable knocking around somewhere so will see if that lines up

Not sure re rear sprocket off set but chose 5.5 to prevent tire/chain rubbing ,well that's the theory.
If the kawasaki shocks fit then I recon the hagon's going to get the job providing the length's not to far out.
While were on subject of rear. Anyone fitted a small twin piston caliper ( preferably from another bike.not paying silly money for isr etc)
