.........from my house to yours....Total distance: 255.6 miles (411.4 km)

if I leave at about 7am I should be able to get there for 11 ish.

What happens if its shit weather on the day? is it still on or do we call it quits?

I got no qualms about getting in the car and coming up if its shit weather - if nothing else but to meet people at the evening " business" meeting - but there is no fucking way Im covering that sort of distance on a bike in the rain (with the wet weather gear that I have not got ).

I recon off the top of my head.....

Meet up at my house mid morning and all go for a nice McDonalds Breakfast or fry up cafe and let the discussions begin.

Take a nice ride out ending up at Donnington where we'll watch the bikes and have lunch at the Redgate Inn. Discussions continue..

'Nother ride out. B6047 A60 are nice roads.

Get back to mine.

There's a nice lager serving Indian in the next village. We could book a table http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Then get a taxi into town ? or stay locally and just chill out with the beer......

Only money you'll need is for the beer and food.

Im still not convinced on the merits of a 300 mile ride in the pouring rain, its been years since I last rode in the wet. I have no wet weather gear either, i'll have to borrow my misses's horse riding waterproofs, damm I'll look cool http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Right just got back from a couple of days stuck in Birmingham - but I have basically been glued to the long range weather forecast kinda hoping that it breaks by Sat so I could finalise things.

As it stands at the Moment friday looks like its going to be the worst of it with a break for sat - still showers and overcast in alot of areas but sunny spells in some.

In an ideal world I'd like to reschedule till a sunny day, the ride out if the roads are wet or if its raining will be no fun at all - unfortunately I have a load of other commitments in the upcoming weekends - so Im out of it for a month or two if this one falls flat.

Also I have already organised leaving my son at my mums for sat / sun. My misses has organised to stay at a friends she has not seen for a long time up near nottingham so she can take my change of clothes/gear up in the back of the car whilst I slowly follow her up on the bike - gives me someone to stop and have breakfast with and a bit of company on the long ride up, then when we gaet near nottingham we are going our seperate ways until Sunday when we meet back up and drive/ride back to Plymouth.

she is looking forward to it - so basically even if the weekend is called to a halt as far as the Gixxer.com crew go Im committed to riding up now. So I have a choice of going all that distance for a day of shopping with my misses and her friend then staying at her friends house whilst they drink wine and talk about womany things http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wtf.gif or donno and a few beers in the evening with anyone who is willing to attend, Dan if your still up for it and Rev if your willing to attend spare me the wine/womans gossip/shopping hell.

I wiill give you a ring on your mobile later on tonight Dan.

cheers

Jason

Pissed and pissed!
Sorry guy's I am a big fat loser who has given in to his wanker boss and agreed to work this weekend after all, he managed to appeal to my mercinary side and said he would pay me double time and time off in lue, so I cant really afford not to work, especially with the new truck on the way in 3 weeks. This will pay the insurance for the year, at least.

I feel like a dog letting you all down at the 11th hour, but I promise to be stronger next time and I will be there. Yeah, yeah I know what you are thinking, but fuck it is a shit load of money and I would be a c*nt to pass it up.

How was it guys? like i said the morning was hectic for me. I was free at 2:00pm so decided to have a ride up there on the off chance and it only took 50 mins http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Dan I didnt bother phoning as Id left it so late and didnt really expect you lot to still be there but I took the chance and had a good ride anyway, still not all wasted as I bumped into a guy I know who is now one of the officials on the track day (RSV mille No8) so ended up chatting to him for a while by this time the weather had turned siht and nobody was going out so headed home.

Hope you all have a great time, make sure you post pictures, I can't wait to see your ugly mugs http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

We came, we saw and we got pissed http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I enjoyed it. Jason (RepulsioN) is a great lad - a good rider and pulls proper wheelies..

After ride outs, donnington and the chippy. We went down to the bus stop and headed into town (where we met up with some mates) where we proceeded to consume alchohol at a crazy fucking rate. 7 or 8 pints later Jay decided enough was enough and had a soft drink. Not me though i continued to drink untill i was sick in my brothers brand new Focus ST170 http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I also fell asleep in the Pizza House. Idiot. Pisseed out of my tree.

Roads were dry on the way to donnington but we had a few patchy showers on the way back. Got no piccies though i forgot to take the camera http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif I AM going to get a K1 750 though. I rode Jason's bike and it felt bleeding lovely compared to mine - mega smooth, easy handling and looks fucking gorgeous.

Hope you had a safe journey home Jay. Cheers.

Yeah definately must happen again.

me and Jay agreed that next time cash should be taken from each person wanting to go in advance. Such as entry fees for a race meet or better still just money into a kitty for the beer / curry house bill. I'd say 20 quid from each person ??

we were both a bit disappointed with it being just us two. We got on great and once a few beers were downed we had a wicked laugh even with Jay surrounded with a table full of guys he didn't know.

June/July would be good. Not sure where/what though - would be fair to be further down south than the Midlands. please give suggestions on this guys.... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wait.gif

And next time. I'll take the camera http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Should we start a Spring Meet Round 2 sticky ???

Many thanks to Dan for putting me up in his house - for those who are interested here’s a quick report of my weekend:

Followed my misses on the journey from, plymouth who was driving the Jeep (she was going to see one of her friends up that way so it meant that I could shove all my gear in the back and not carry it on the bike).

Got to dans about 280 miles later after a completely dry ride up. Then a decent ride out to Donnington on some nice smooth twisty but not to threatening roads (still dry), hats off to Dan for being a fast smooth rider - After all that boring motorway riding I don’t think I could have handle any more sedate riding so I was happy to find myself following Dan through the roads at an entertaining pace http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Started raining at Donnington and we had to ride back in the rain (for anyone that wussed out because of the weather I would like to point out that this is the first time in well over two years that I have ridden in the wet, and the first time my bike has ever seen rain). Anyway the rain wasn't that heavy so the ride back from Donnington was still good fun.

The evening out was a laugh - Dans friends and brother and sister where genuine friendly and entertaining people. I was fair pissed come the end - but I was positively sober compared to Dan who it has to be said was absolutely shitfaced at the end of the evening. Top marks to his brother for not getting upset when he puked down the inside of his brand new car http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Come the morning and I said my goodbyes and headed of to meet the misses and have some pub lunch with her friend. That’s when last nights alcohol caught up with me. I had to leave the pub and go outside and walk around a nearby field for twenty minutes or so before I could go back inside and face food.

She then decided she wanted to go and see some one else in Huntington before we went back so it was another 60 miles and then another pub meal in the evening before we started heading back to Plymouth. Here's where I made my big mistake of the weekend - it was a lovely day so I got rid of all my leathers and so far unused waterproofs – chucked them in the back of the jeep and merrily set home with trainers, trousers and a light paddock jacket on. Somewhere around Birmingham it started pissing it down - I was soaked to the bone in seconds – with a truck full of wet weather gear following some ten-miles behind http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wtf.gif. To counter pneumonia I pulled over and stopped in a travel inn for the night then completed the journey in the morning when it was sunny again.

In total 790 miles. Sat, Sun, and Monday morning.
