Sup everyone. First time poster, long time reader... like month and a half? That count for long time? Lol, anyways I've finally decided to get myself a motorcycle. I have 0 experience except for a 50cc dirt bike my dad got me when I was a lot younger... man I love that thing, still runs too! Anyways I did have my heart set on a GSX-R600 but after reading here for the last month and a half I've decided I want to live long enough to enjoy riding, so the gixxer will probably be my second bike. I'm thinking of getting a SV650S sinse I've seen some pics and they can look just as good if not better than a GSX-R600, more newbie friendly, plus insurance shouldn't be nearly as high, yay. My question is does the 2003 have any full fairing kits yet? Keep in mind that I live in hawaii and that getting a older used SV650S isn't really a choice because there are not really a lot of used bikes for sale, so a new one is kind of my only option. I went to the Suzuki dealer to see if i could get a last year model, but there where none on the sales floor. Also, when will the 2003 SV650S hit the sales floor? I'm half way through my MSF course and can't wait to get my bike, even got a nice fat down payment for it =) Any answers to those 2 questions would be great help. Oh yea, one more thing, anyone know how much it will cost a 19 year old to insure a SV650S? My driving record is totally clean after 4 years of driving (the legal age you could get your permit was 15 here, and you could get your licence at 15 and 3 months, which I did. Though the law has changed now, glad I got mine before!). Thanks again!

Welcome to the board bro http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/flipa.gif Good choice on your bike http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Yes, you can get full fairings for an SV. But I have yet to see vendors (such as Sharkskinz) have them for the new 03 yet. You will probably have to wait for the bike to come out so they can fabricate them.
Suzuki site says they are going to be in showrooms in the spring, which prolly means April. Your dealership would know when they are getting a shipment.
I have no idea what your insurance will be, as my SV is race-only, and is not legal for the street...therefore I don't need to insure it http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
You might want to check out the SV forum on this site if you haven't already. It is a new section that really needs more SV people to pick it up http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Wow... Kind of a weird day. Today was my second day at the MSF course. On the way home decided to stop by the Suzuki dealer to see when the 03 SV650S gets in.... i walk in and there it is! Brand new sitting there... though it wasn't an S model, it still was an 03 SV650... so the S models couldn't be far away right? After speaking with a saleman it turns out they just got those 650's in today, and are expecting 3 S models on the 21st... well slapped out my wallet and put a 100 bucks on the silver one for them to hold it for me (though not an actual down payment, they said 100 bucks will make sure they donit sell it to someone else). Can't wait till the 21st!! =) Question though: Anyone who started out on a 650... think I should get someone to ride it home or do it myself? At the MSF course, I do feel confident that I could make it home, though sense I am a newbie, I may not be aware of some of the dangers... From the dealership its about 2 main roads that go about 40mph each till you get to my house. Anyone shed some light on this? I'd really like to drive it home myself, but I'd also like for my bike (and me) to look like new when I get home. Thanks again!
