Im changing a clutch for a buddy and the manual calls for "Suzuki Bond 1207B". Does anyone know if I can use a substitute or should I go all the way to the dealership to find this specific stuff?

By a substitute I mean will RTV (like permatex) that I would use in a car engine work, or is the suzuki stuff the only choice to seal a motorcycle crank case properly? Advise would be awsome!

permatex will work. just dont over due it. i hate the look of bikes when people have gone sealent crazy.

for case covers I use permetex gasket maker. rtv sealant will work.
if you get some extra on let it dry and then pull or peal the extra off.

I use that blue Loctite liquid gasket stuff. Never had a leak when using it, so Permatex will probably work too.

As Boost said, don't overdo it - although I would be more worried about sealant bits going around the lubrication system than outside looks... ;)

I have been doing a lot of engine teardown/rebuild lately (long story). I have been using the gasket sealer/rtv/permatex stuff, and it has been doing just fine. I used it to fill in some spots on torn gaskets clutch/starter covers etc., as well as between the cases, and it worked pretty good.
