I'm currently trying to change the front tire on my 02 gsxr 600, and I'm having problem removing the front axle. Do you need a special tool or something? I've read the the service manual but it really lacks detail. Please help me :(

Well all you need is 27mm (I think, maybe 24mm, not sure, check the sticky) allen socket or custom make your own. Release the pinch bolts on the right side of the bike (10 mm bolts at the bottom of the fork) and turn the bolt counter clockwise. After it releases you can release the pinch bolts on the other side where the spacer nut is and voila, axle out. Just take off the brakes, most likely before you take out the axle, then drop the wheel down. You can leave the front fender or take it out if you wish to do so.

A long lug nut also works. I used a bolt head to find the right size in the parts store. The price was a little under $2.
