Hey guy's i know a guy who has a Yamaha R1 it's like a 01 or 02 model, mods i know so far is Yoshi slip on, front end strap, don't know if the rear has been lowered any tho, geared -1 up front and +3 in the back, do you think i can beat this guy in the 1/8 mile on my 93 gsxr1100 bored out to a JE 1146, front end strap, lowered 2 inches in the rear, 39mm keihns with blue stacks, D&D full exhaust, Dyna 2000, airshifter, 14-45 gearing, 4-6 inch ext. arm, let me know because this guy is really getting on my nerves about racing him

it sounds like you should be able to take him unless his riding skills are unbelieveable and you spin and miss a few gears.

Thanks guy's, this guy weighs like 240 pounds and he is a average rider on the street, i have watched some of his 1/8 mile times and he runs like a 7.10-720 et. also he is stock wheelbase and loves to show boat when racing like riding wheelies, and guy's you know wheelies won't when races, well i guess i will race the R1 so i can shut him up, i figure i could beat him tho but just wanted to know what you guy's think.....

Might want to dyno your bike so you know what you're dealing with. That way you'll pretty much know what you can and can't do. Sounds like you got a serious piece of machinery there. You'll take 'em.

How good do you launch? R1s don't run good drag racing unless its a mccoy r1 don't worry. Can u beat a zx-9r

Hey Youngin, never raced any zx9r, you just don't see many of them bikes around here where i live, but if i have to bet i would say i could beat one depending on whats been done to the bike, i heard them zx9r make good HP with the 998 piston kit from Muzzy

i have seen a 9 with the muzzy kit and bolt on extensions with an air shifter run 8.93. they make good power.

updated stuff to tell you guy's is that i went to the local track and ran into the guy that owns the R1 and his excuse was that the bike was in the shop getting transmission work done, Bullshit but anyways i end up racing a 2005 Busa beat him 2 times and ran a CBR 1000RR and beat that guy 1 time and then i noticed that my clutches was starting to give

Hey Youngin, i have beat Busa's before but this one is a stunna, it's the 05 red/black paint scheme with Chrome wheels, Chrome swingarm, Chrome front and rear calibers with also some slight custom Chrome pieces to that i saw on the bike, the CBR 1000RR was stock with a airshifter, 0-6 inch ext.arm, lowered front /rear, geared, exhaust, thats plenty much it that i know of

Sure, it's possible. If you're practiced at launching your bike, and he's not, you'll probably hand him his *ss.

Or it could go the other way if rider-skills are reversed.

I whupped-up on a similar R1 with a 2lb nitrous-bottle hanging off the side of it earlier this year at Pacific Raceways with my Bandit (stock wheelbase, not lowered). ...the bottom-line is: just like in other forms of racing, the equipment/bike doesn't mean as much as the rider-skills can.

When I had an 89 750 w/a 1052cc motor in it, piped, jetted, -1 and + 3 gearing (too much honestly), strapped front I kept running 11.0s @ 130. Bone stock 1st gen R1 rider kept running 10.9s...we were sorta new at it. I think you got him though.

Why do you think -1 +3 is to much and if you knew this guy he lets his mouth overload his ASS most of the times at the track, also what was your 1/8 mile times on that 750 and MPH and how much do you weight

hmm you should win i literly just tried dragging 2 weeks ago, its pretty fun, mine bikes are a 92 GSXR 1100 with a similar build to yours, and a 01 TL1000R. my best on the day i ran for my first time draggin was a 10.67 at 133, but i was realy launching easy and i didnt wack it full throttle until i had already moved 10 to 20 foot, so i know i can pick up alot of time as i bring my launches up. and my tillers best was a 11.23 mainly do to it wanting to wheelie from 1st through 3rd. anyways on the street i had absolutly no problem beating R1's from a dead stop to a rollon in any gear. you should smoke him hard if you have some skill.

ive recently bought the lowering strap and im going to get some adjustable dog bones for it aswell to help on my runs. i was realing in my buddy on his stock busa but he still got me in the end as he had about 40 runs to my ehh maybe 5 to 10 that day.

Hey Bullet, i have own my gsxr1100 for about 4 years and raced it alot since i had it and my skills on the bike is spectacular on the street and strip, i have beat many 1000, busa, zx12, and other top dog bikes out there, so my confidence on this bike is really high
