Hey everyone, I just wanted to inroduce myself and say hello! My names Libby, and im still pretty new at this. Me and my bf bought our first bike last spring, and im still waiting to learn how to ride! We have an 05' gixxer 600. And i will be learning to ride on his familys old Honda Rebel, as soon as we pick it up from his father's house in Idaho. I spent all of last year on the backseat ( man, i think thats the first time i've heard that sentence and not thought dirty, hehe ) taking everything in and learning alot. Learning, Learning, Learning... and Listening, Listening, Listening. Later on this spring/summer after i learn my basics on the Rebel, i hope to pick up a Ninja 250 or 500, or something along those lines so that i can learn how to ride a streetbike well, and then whenever i feel comfortable after that i hope to get a gixxer 600 of my very own! Well, i think that i have rambled enough now... I cant wait to meet you all and see you out on the streets!

Libby

PS - I turn 21 in 14 days!!!!!! :cheers =)

I hope so... I really want to start on on the 250, but my only fear is that i will grow out of it quickly. How long did you have yours before you felt like you could step up to a bigger bike? Im not afraid of getting hassled or teased by other riders at all, because i want to learn how to ride well. I guess im just looking at it from the investment side of the spectrum. =/ Know what im saying?

Welcome and congrats on having a good head on your shoulders. Not everyone would do what you are doing, including myself. My wife took the MSF course and rode for a few years, but now she enjoys it more as a passenger rather then having her own bike. Keep your head up and rubber side down.

Well I rode 250's (1st was a VTR, 2nd ninja) for 4 years and was never bored.

Don't think that the latest and greatest is better than what you have. I liked my VTR250 better than my SV or zx6.

The other bikes I've owned have been much better in every way except when I was on the VTR I was very comfortable, I guess thats what 30k miles will do. I knew exactly what I could do on that bike and how hard I could go. Just my opinion others may vary;)

Yeah im going to take the MSF course a little later this spring. My almost grandma in law told me that it would be wise to learn the wee basics of operating/riding before taking the course so that i can get the most out of learning to ride safe/well, rather than fighting with HOW to ride a motorcycle during the class, so thats my plan there. I have a 21st bday, and a few vacations comming up in the next month and a half, between work and life... so i hope to get out there on my own soon! But i still love riding with the bf, and my bf told me that im pretty good on the back, i think the fact that ive been raised on horses helps alot. You wouldnt believe how much motorcycle and competitive riding has in common! Turning, Leaning, Looking ahead... all compatible!
