I am currently looking to buy my first bike. I plan on buying used to see if I really enjoy it or not, before I sink too much cash. A local place has both a 2001 Kawasaki EX-500 and a 2000 Suzuki SV-650 for the same price ($3995). The 500 has 3,000 miles, and the 650 has 9,000 miles on it.
Which would be the better beginner bike? As for background, I have a few years experience with dirt bikes, so it wouldn't be completely new.
Thanks for the advice!

Both would be great bikes...however, being that you have some experience on dirt bikes, I'd go with the SV650...providing it's in sound condition...The SV will prolly give you more enjoyment for a longer period of time, and there are tons of aftermarket parts available for the SV..even full fairings..ect. ..Oh, if you haven't already..take the MSF course, it will help alot...good luck, and ride safe...... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Oh...and Welcome to the ADDICTION... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

That's kind of what I was thinking. I haven't taken any courses, but plan to when I get serious about buying a bike. I would like to buy it this year, but may not be able to until next year.
