I was wondering if the dealers actually check the valve clearance at the 1000 km service. Does the service manual actually call for this inspection? Or is the first valve check at 24,000 km like every other Suzuki? Any input is greatly appreciated since you will help finalize my decision to save the money and adjust my own chain etc.

just got my first service. 1000kms services are dick all on most bikes no adays. its a really cheap elaborated oil change, and a inspection of the bike. my bike needed the chain tightened. thats about the jist of it 138$ CAD tax in for mine

Valve adjustment is not required until 16,000 miles.

But they are supposed to check throttle valve sync.

No.
No valve stuff until 24,000kms.
First service essentially is a oil change. Also, no clutch check until 6000kms.

well the manual clearly states throttle valve sync. (CA model only)

They checked my 2005 at 500 miles and #3 was out by 15%. It didn't run funny, and didn't know the difference until I got back on it the next day.

Yes indeed, you surfers (Californians) have to do yours at 1000kms.
I was mistaken, we have to do ours at 12000kms.
