I know there have been a few posts here about new tire choices, but all I want to know before buying a new set of tires is the following. I have a set of dunlop 207's on my 01 750 gixx should I upgrade to the 208's or move to a different brand (I have only had experience with the crapadams b4 this) I have heard good things about the pilot sports but I am afraid that I will only get one maby two summers out of them under normal use. I do understand that tire choice is different for everybody but any feedback on a good performing decent milage (two summers at least) tire would be great. I am going to buy a set in just a couple of days so thanks in advance BTW I cant tell if I like the 207's I have on the bike now cus I bought the bike in mid winter and have only had it out once for like 10 mins http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif

depends on your riding style... but typically (there is no hard set of rules for this) the faster you go the softer you want your tire. softer equates into more grip. but then softer also means shorter tire life span. 207's are a great street tire as are 208's. 208s are softer which give a better bite but don't last as long. personally i run 208s on the track and 207s on the street. hope that helps

I had 207's, they were stock on my 2002 600. I am still new to riding, only 12,000 miles under me, so I know I wasn't "pushing" them by any means. However, 207's are being discontinued and being replaced by 208's. The 208's have been getting really good reviews as a street tire and as a "mild" track tire. I was debating the 208 issue. I currently have Metz. M-1's and they are sticky sticky, however, I only got half the mileage of the 207's. I'm really not concerned with the mileage though. I just want a tire that will stick to the ground on turns. I'll sacrifice mileage or $$$ for the skin factor. If you really want a good mileage tire that has also garnished alot of good reviews, you can't go wrong with the Bt-010's. They have a harder center with softer sides. I heard they are alittle stiff on absorbing highway bumps but it's been called a great commuter tire. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I like the Metzeler Z3s. Great grip, also when wet. IMO f*ck milage. Get some sticky tires. Tires are, after all, less expensive than a new fairing (believe me, I've been there).

First let me say that I feel that the front tire of a bike should be changed every year. Tires dry rot over the off season and if your formt tire blows out @ any speed it results usually SUCK. I also NEVER change both tires @ the same time. New tires are slippery and have a brake in period. Put 100 miles on 1 tire then change the other one. I also like the BT 010's. I also like the BT 020's Hone puts these on there bikes and lets face it, Hondas are the best handeling bikes. I know this is a GSXR forum but it is the truth. But, in my defence, I ow own a '02 GSXR1 and love it. It was that or the 954. Honda maid a great handeling liter bike, they just forgot to give it any balls! err... hourse power for the PC people.
