Does anyone know for absolute certainty that this will work on the K6 600/750s?

http://www.watsendesign.com/products/current/PLATEHANGER/index.htm

I really like it, but really don't want to waste a couple dollars and weeks on it. : )

Went down to Crappy Tire and spent $0.88 on some 1" x 1" 90-deg things, hardware section. Removed fender and used the fender bolts to hold these things in were the fender was, two back holes. Drilled the plate to match and done. Took maybe 10 mins.

sticker without one is a pain

You lost me on the sticker/plate light thing?

In Florida the statute doesn't particularly state that you have to have a light shining on your plate, just that "the plate has to be readable from 100 ft away", bike plates aren't readable at that distance no matter what - so its a catch 22.....my brake light will be the illuminator. : )

So I assume you guys cut the license plate wires? I was trying to figure out a way to get them out of the fender without cutting them, but I don't see a way to do it. Just wanted to make sure that's what everyone else is doing.

i can't remember which member post it, but i thought he said there is a connector for the plate light in the tail section. He said no need to cut the wires. I thought i read that?:confused

Yes there is a plug I think it is under the tool kit somewhere, i cut mine when i tried making my make shift emilinator. that didnt work out that well.

For the time being I removed my passenger pegs (dont need them) and just bolted a 90 bend of aluminum using the allen bolts then bolted my plate to that. Only thing is I dont have a light.

THIS WILL NOT FIT ANY OF THE 06 MODELS. I EMAILED KATHRINE AT WATSENS AND IT DISCONTINUED ANYWAY.

Sucks for sure!

I found the plug but I can't even pull the wires through the holes in the under tray or the fender with the weather proof sheathing on it! I will likely get an LED light later on anyway so I think I will just cut it. I want that fender off, it's FUGLY!!

I just fixed up my rear end today. I went for the evotech even though it is a bit pricey. I went ahead and cut the wire that goes to the stock plate light, it won't hurt anything if you cut it where it enters for the light. It gives you plenty of wire for when you install a different tail end and light.

I got a couple L shaped brackets from Home Depot and bolted them on. It looks SUHWEET and very clean. Cost less than three bucks.

Forget the white connector. You can disconnect it and then what? There is no way under the sun it can be pulled through that tiny hole even if you dismantle the whole tail. Forget it just cut the wires.

The connector will fit thru the little hole. You only need to do this if you plan on someday putting the mudflap back on for whatever reason. Otherwise cut it.

If your worried about a plate light then the evo tech fender is the way forward. Some pics:-

http://x11.putfile.com/4/11107281447.jpg (http://www.putfile.com)

Its easy to fit and there is no need to cut the wire cause mine just slipped out the little whole on the undertray. Looks the part when on and worth the money for a proffessional looking job.

i didnt get it from bikelitez, i got it from local suzuki dealer in my area. It was 80 bucks. Its similar to the bikelitez. i used the stock wiring to connect to it. It took about 10 mins.

if you want i cant take a better pic of it, let me know.

Look closer at the second picture, you will see the original wire coming out and connected to a black light bulb. The whole thing is kind of covered by a piece of plastic (L shaped) to not make it visible. and then the whole thing is attached with velcrow to the bike so it can be easily removed.

how is the fit and finish? i love the way it looks, just a little worried about drilling into my baby, lol. plus worried the man will pull me over, and if i have to switch to the more conventional one, what will the holes look like? :scratch

Macblastr
04-25-2006, 11:28 PM
if you take the SS kit off then the holes you drill will look like shit! Just being honest... but that piece is probably not too expensive if you HAD to replace it... if you are worried about the local authorities, then i would NOT put that kit on.

Cool, love the do it yourself versions! But you obviously didn't sew the velcro to the bike!!! So did you use krazy glue or did you use the pre-adhesive type velcro? (save me a trip to the store) Thanks!!

Pre-adhesive velcro I think A coupl e$'s for 6 patches at walmart. Did not want to put any glues, and the idea was to remove it if needed without any signs on the bike. After 2 months it is still there as the first day

Some pics of my homemade brackets. L stock aluminum from Homedepot. If you loosen the tail and pull the plastic back a bit, you will find the tag light plug about halfway to the front seat on the right side behind the servo motor.

Oh I bet there is some legal requirment but I don't think I will worry about it till I get pulled over. The tail light shines on it pretty well so maybe that will be sufficiant.
