Did anyone else purchase one. I did for additional on the bike. I am just trying to see if it was worth it or not. How many of you guys got the option.

I figured first model year unseen problems like when I had my R6 with second gear problems.

you won't have 72 months...if you purchase the 5 year, it includes the 1st year limited warranty...i thought the same thing when i picked up mine. the dealership said the only company that does that is yamaha...which is nice...considering they don't even know what's going on when they release a bike.

I bought one for 900. it includs your first service, an oil change whenever you want, free tire mounting/balancing when you buy a tire from them and a 48 hr return. and alst 15% of everything in the store or parts you have to order. I thought just the 48 hr turnaround was worthit b/c in the summer you could wait over 2 weeks

got mine for 500 for 4 years + 1 year MF for a total 5 yr.
just to be safe. I am also gonna get this insurance that for 500 it covers if the bike is stolen for the first 3 years. Its additional to my fire/thieft, so it pays the dealer 5,000 additional to what i get from my other ins company for the bike. so pretty much if my bike gets stolen and my company gives me 10,000 I get an additional 5,000.

Since I have had 3 bikes and all three have been stolen in the first 3 years its worth it.

i am telling you call the dealer for that link it even says it it bold (These are EXTENSIONS and are additional to the warranty periods which are provided as a standard feature on the vehicles. (your ATV has a 6 month warranty; if you purchase a 42 month extension, then you have 48 months of coverage)
and they will tell you its a 5 year plus the 12 months you have. so you bought a extended 48 month warranty plus your 1 year make you have a total of 5 year. i will have a total of 6 years...hear is another example but they word it better to understand . http://www.oneidasuzuki.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=19731&cat=772&page=1

and here is teh one you would have bought http://www.oneidasuzuki.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=19727&cat=772&page=1

Everything you buy nowadays has an extended warranty for purchase.

Ask yourself this; after buying things for 10 years and paying for extended warranties how many times would you have gotten your moneys worth and how many times would you have paid for a service contract on a product that never needed it? Typically it averages out in your favor not to buy an extended warranty. Why? If it didn’t the companies offering them wouldn’t be making money and they wouldn’t offer them. This also includes services that “need to be done” that justifies the cost. Again, if it cost what they claim, it wouldn’t be covered because they need to make a profit.

You can assume anything that is going to go wrong with your purchase will probably happen within the manufactures warranty period. If it doesn’t, you have the $900 in your pocket to take care of it and over time the money you save up not buying extended warranties will cover a lot more than that. If that’s not good enough, often a letter to the manufacturer expressing your disappointment in the quality of their product can get you free or discounted repairs.

When I am going to pick my new bike up I am getting the warranty. I had it on the old one. Just something good to have. I think I might get the tire insurance too as I picked up a lot of nails and such living in Los Angeles.

I've bought extended warrenties before and only 1 car cost me more than the cost of the warrenty, and that was on a 94 BMW with a warrenty to 100,000 miles and I didn't use it til after 90,000 miles. Then over 5000 in suspension repairs alone. (1295 for the warranty)

To me on a brand new vehicle the warranty isn't worth it. But it is a personal decision. And this is a redesigned bike with lots of new parts.

The BMW was worth it as just a steering box part cost was 1695.00. And warranty was worth the extra cost just for the peice of mind. Of course the Warranty company did go bankrupt!!!!!!!!! But luckily, I didn't need it again.

Real question:

What types of repairs has anyone had covered? And did the costs justify the warranty???????
And who is the warranty through Suzuki or a third party?

The only thing I'd buy an extended warranty for is a laptop, would of saved my 400 bucks if I did. Saved someone else I know around 300.

I got a 2 year extended warranty included with my purchase price. Nice to have the peace of mind. I would not have bought though if was not included.

Ditto, the plan I got also came with "rapid" turnaround (IE: front of line service) and free lifetime battery replacement and all my services including oil changes included. Sounded like a decent deal considering a replacement battery alone can be a hundred bucks or more and they tend to go flat quickly after one of our winters.

you can buy the extended warranty up until the 365th day from the date of your purchase.

So yes you can still get it 4 months out.

I had 2nd gear problems with my 01 R6 as well. I wrote a letter to Yamaha demanding they cover it under warranty and they sent a letter back basicly saying, fix it yourself dumba$$. $1300 later , 2nd gear was fixed. I also stated in the letter that if they refused to cover it under warranty, I would be purchasing a suzuki as my next bike and would never buy another yamaha. Bought a Yellow/Black Gixxer 750 this week. If I can't get them to pay for their design flaws (shitty shift dogs), then I'll hurt their wallet by buying from their biggest competitor.
