Ok here is the low down....

My girlfriend agreed to buy me a bike.... what ever i wanted http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/punk.gif this will be my first bike.

I am going to take a safety course (there are several offered here in central FL)

i have about 50miles riding on a old 86 yamaha FZ and about 100 miles on a old suzuki 550 cruzer and 5 miles on a honda crb 929rr

i am a very causious driver and rider. had my share of near death experences in my Z28 that i had and have slowed down ALOT.

What i am looking at:
2001+ GSXR 600
2000+ GSXR 750

oh ya i am 6'3" and 165lbs

i really want the 750. what year was it avalible in red and (i believe black or silver)

What he said http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The 600 will have more then enough power for you I had a 2000 kawi ZX-6R for 3 summers and was still no where near riding it to its potential. And it had more then enough power for anything i was going to do with it. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif

IMO Both are bad.
Look at a used SV650, EX500, Bandit600
Ride it for a full year sell it for what your heart desires.
Do what you want but IMO race replicas are AWFUL begginer bikes. You really have no actuall riding experience you can count on.

After seeing you post this up I noticed all our newbie threads were no longer stickies.I topped them all back up. Read through those.

my buddy jeremy got a 2002 gsxr 600 as a first biek with no experence at all a few months ago. he told me to get a sv650, but i dotn trust his opinion case even after he first starts somethign he is a selfproclamed master of it.

my buddy clay said that i could get a gsxr750 as a frist bike (that is what he got his girlfriend) and as long as i am respectful to it and keep the level head that i have i would be fine on it.

The problem with that line of thought is it is not always your decision on what is gonna happen.
Race replicas are made for one thing speed. They are insanely fast off the line and stop like a madman. Things like slipping on the throttle when hitting a bump in the road can cause you to loop the bike. Accidently giving too much brake to the front can have reverse effects, looping over the front.
NTM race replicas have a real nasty habit of tank slapping more so than other bikes because of how they are made. This is one scary situation expecially for unexperienced riders.

I also have had friends start on race replicas. One is dead, one wrecked his bike so bad he sold it and never rode again.

It is your choice, but in my opinion start on something that will help you learn rather than make your learning time longer.

I have to agree with the above post as well, (seeing as im his friend jeremy). I had told him several times that i shouldn't have gotten the bike i did http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bash.gif. If i could go back i'd have gotten the sv650, and i'd probobly be much better riding then i am now. Im not slow by any means, but i could be alot faster then i am http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif.

Hello This is the big “Ego” R1 owner. My ego? Your Buddy? No B*tch you don’t know me from a hole in your fat girlfriends ass. First off I aint your “Buddy” All this “seat time” you are talking about. Bullsh*t, all of it ! The only bike you ever rode – or should I say attempted to ride- was Hoag’s old yammi Fz which you promptly dropped before you left the drive way. Plain and simple YOU DON’T BELONG ON A BIKE. I have watched you since you have been around. You crawl up people around here’s ass in hopes for some sort of social acceptance. I.E. getting that busted ass z the same as yosh’s. And still you persist in pimpin that sh*t on this webboard long after you smashed it being stupid in the rain, in the hopes for that acceptance that you cant get in public. In the process trying to bring me and other people’s misfortunes in to powder your B.S. story of getting a bike. You are a poser! And next time you want to trick people into helping you just so that you can get the gratification of someone talking through a post to you would be wise not to bring me or anyone else into your little fake ass fantasy world. If you would like to see the size of my “ego” I am real easy to find. Feel free to find me and we can “talk” in person.

that was his brother that dropped it in the drive way, not me. that thing barely ran so it was a chalange. I think you sould sit down remove the stick from you ass and look at thigns for a different prospective. If i have beef with someone or goign to say somethgn to piss soem one off on line I PM it to them. I am sorry if my wording made ti seem that you got you biek for anythign other then that was the one you liked the best. What i was sayign was that i am not gettign one for a ego boost. And everyone drops there bike, i just want mininise that happening just get somethign that i want and not just settle of somethign

and isn't exactly what i told you what everyone else and their mother is saying to you! im sure that a level headed person can handle a gsxr 600, and MAYBE a 750, but 9x's outta 10 they will be slower then someone who starts on a smaller bike. And the learning process is alot shorter. Now, i did say a "LEVEL HEADED PERSON", that would be something that you are very very far from. think about all the dumb shit you did in your car, including when you totaled it driving like an idiot in the rain http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/idea.gif. That on a bike, equals dead. Im not saying im perfect, but look at track record, then come back to me. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
