Just ordered one from THIS SITE (http://www.fendereliminators.net/759568.html) for $89. Looks like it tucks the plate under a bit but anything to get rid of the ugly plastic piece. I believe it also has LED plate illumination.

Hopefully it will get here soon so I can post pictures and feedback on it.

LOL Sorry, linkowned... It's fixed now

Their site has a few closeups but no good shots from a distance to see how it looks as a whole. Cant tell if it mounts using the factory mount holes or not, but it looks nice and plate illumination via LED's helps keep it more legal. Though some local friendlys may gripe about it's placement and/or angle.

That looks freaking sweet. I love the placement. Let me know how the installation goes. Looks like you might have to drill some mounting holes in the undertail section. Not sure. anyways keep us posted dude. great buy.

i like that ALOT better than putting it up at the end of the tail. personally, id rather keep the fender on it than put it on the end of the tail like ive been seeing. ill wait for pictures, but i might end up going with that one. ive seen it on ebay also..

Check with the law. I was told,in Texas, if it tucked under too far that it is illegal.

is it bolted into the second set of bolts from the stock one or where is this bolted to?

It involves drilling mounting holes, there are no stock holes that far up in the undertail. I would definitely check with law enforcement before buying and drilling holes where they may ultimately be unused due to laws. It does look sano though.

I'm assuming it requires holes. In which case, I would think you could mount it anywhere you'd want as long as you didnt drill into something on the top side.

I'll probably use some double sided tape and stick it in a few places to decide where I want it first, then hit it with the drill.

That's a little pricy for its purpose IMO.

It is on the expensive side but I didnt feel like fabbing something up myself just yet. I design and sell a lot of custom parts for the new Pontiac GTO, so I may take on the idea of making and selling some less expensive but good quality plate holders if I get the time to make the measurements. Most of the stuff I have made is CNC'd out of billet or laser cut from aluminum sheet. But in the meantime i'll sport this piece instead.

I spent a whole $3.41 at Home Depot on 1/4" aluminum flat rod and just bent and drilled it myself. I now have more $$ to spend on all my other aftermarket products. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Normaly, that'd be what I would do but I wanted something a little nicer since it isnt hidden under the hood of a car or under the plastics.

Nice, Only one problem. They dont give you anything to fill in the space left by the Stock fender...by the way looks like crap

Just noticed that in the pics... Luckly, i'm great with fabbing up aluminum stuff so i'll just make a filler piece to trim that out nicer. If I dont like the kit they send, i'll just hack it up and use the parts I want and fab everything else myself. I wish I only had access to a TIG to weld aluminum, but I dont.

FYI, the kit came and it is plastic... I'm not real thrilled about that. BUT it does come with a black plastic filler piece for the hole the fender leaves in the tail. I'm going to tweak it some to make it nicer and mount the plate at the back where it is legal since the kit is designed to mount the plate right above the tire, clearly where it isnt legal in most areas.

I'm not fooling with it again until this weekend, but i'll try and grab some pics when I do.

As far as I can tell, I wouldnt pay that much for it again. More so had I known it was plastic and not aluminum. It does have a fairly decent LED plate light with 5 white LED's angled to light up the entire plate well enough.
